Good overall with honey suckles, floral, apricots, peach and apple. Medium finish.

Great maturity, good complexity. Carmel, brown baked apple, browned butter. Very nice. Not the most interesting Sauternes, but really in a good place for what it is. Wonderful to drink now or honestly for another 20 years, although it will change but I don't think it'll get better.

High-toned aromatics bely the richness below. It's all honey and stone fruit in the depths. Pineapple. Orange marmalade. What felt like a lack of acidity evolved into a clearly integrated acidity with time, thought it could have been punchier. Throws a little ginger, but also something leaning mustard seed/horseradish. Palate might have been blown by this point, but this seemed to feature less botrytis character, overall, than some others I've had. But I have a preference for those confection/curd/cream notes. …

Medium dark gold. Aromas of orange marmalade, apricot, saffron, acacia blossom and a hint of heather. Sweet with a fading structure. Orangey acids and grapefruit bitterness. Palate of apricot jam, marzipan, candied pineapple, apple blossom and butter fudge. A fully mature, sweet and yet lively wine with ripe yellow stone fruit, slightly fading acids and a wonderful botrytis and blossomy finish. Drink within 3 years. Tasted 2024.

Fathers' Gathering (Q by Peter Chang - Bethesda, Maryland) : Consistent with the previous bottles. Still showing generous dry yellow fruit, dry apricot and raisin, not too sweet, caramel, sweet spices and earth. Fully integrated, dry yellow and red fruit, bright acidity, medium mineral, and a medium long dry yellow fruit driven finish. Not the most complex Sauternes but still enjoyable.

Prior bottle was a year ago and this wine continues to show well. Butterscotch, caramel and lot of nut notes as well as light orange on the nose. Full bodied with tropical notes, honey, caramel and butterscotch upfront and through the middle. Medium gold color. Raisin, marmalade, and vanilla bouquet. Luscious ripe sweet flavor. Rich texture. Adequate acid for balance gives it a cleansing refreshing finish. Served from half bottle.

Out of a half bottle from mahler besse cellar. Medium expressive nose displaying dry yellow fruit with a hint of red, dry apricot, dry peach, caramel, vanilla, sweet spices and earth. Fully integrated palate, fluid and sweet, bright acidity and mineral, and a medium to long dry sweet red fruit driven finish. Still enjoyable.

2nd time I have had this wine and it was showing just as well if not better than in 2007. Light gold color. Notes of apricot, spiced pears and tropical fruits. Excellent depth. This still has plenty of life left. 95 points.

Oh yum! Saturday afternoon at our beach place and decided to open a Sauternes. Beautiful brass color! A big nose of apricots with the botrytis. I’m surprised how much acidity this wine still has.. very full flavored showing creme brulee and oranges. This showed much better than I expected. Now if I can keep the beach bugs out of my glass I’d enjoy it even more!

Beautiful notes of candied orange peel, apricot, rosemary, nougat, Chinese five spice, hints of beeswax and turpentine. Rich and unctuous, fresh and invigorating, not cloying. Over the hill and not great. Dark copper color with some gold tones. Nose and body contained too much “chlorine” that overwhelmed the honey and butterscotch. There were also some out of place peach flavors. Bottom quartile Sauternes. Could only stomach two glasses.

Very deep golden / amber color. Mature, botrytis nose that has notes of caramel and grape essence. Complex. The palate is rich, with good depth but muted edges. A lovely wine that is pure and sneaky long. (91)

It is an okay Sauternes, but lacks the depth and warmth of other Sauternes, still not bad and not sticky (+). I can not give more points, but do not understand how other rate this one like 90?! Maybe it was too old, but a good Sauternes should last 10 years.

Bordeaux, Aged Cali Cabs and Burgundy with the Benchmark Wine Group in Port Chester (Il Sogno, Port Chester, NY) : I actually quite liked this with it's flavors of honey, raisin and apricot. Was really just coming into it's own though. Lot of structure here and may reward further cellaring. A very nice way to end of the evening.

DC winos belated holiday dinner - Mostly Burg and Bordeaux (Lavandou, Washington DC) : Always consistent showing. Caramel, butter scotch and dry figs. Complexity coming from the age. Sweet nose but slightly dry palate as one can imagine.

Old Burg and Bordeaux at the Capital Grille Tysons (Capital Grille Tysons) : Out of a half bottle from mahler besse cellar. No vintage on the label but legible branded cork. The property belonged to Lur Saluces family. Dark Amber/cognac. Almost identical to the last bottle, cognac, apricot, vanilla and caramel. Sweet impression without being sweet. After five hours of great wine drinking, neither energy nor desire to dig deeper for nuances. Still enjoyable.

A golden honey colour in the glass, the high alcohol level (14.5%) is immediately noticeable with the heat coming off the nose. Sweet paraffin and medicinal aromas, it feels rather closed. On first opening, the palate was rich but closed, slowly opening up with marmalade and orange peel flavours as well as hints of butter and juicy pineapple.
