Giuseppe Gorelli Rosso di Montalcino

This was drinking nice on both day 1 and 2. Is probably mature but seems to be a long lasting Rosso. Served blind I would not nesseccery place it in Montalcino but yes in Toscana

I drank this wine on a weekend when I was painting lozenge camouflage on a Hun WW1 biplane. This is a detail that matters, for the wine is also complex, devilishly tricky to get one's head around and, ultimately, very satisfying, yet a little silly. I think that Gorelli were new to the Rosso di M game with this vintage, or so my spies at Decanter tell me. They also suggest some kind of connection with Le Potazzine, possibly Masonic …

Very nice rosso. Ruby red but drinks of much darker fruits....stewed plums and dried figs. Easy drinking for sure, I just prefer a bit brighter fruit than the plummy component. Day 2: much improved, I'm buying more.

Very impressive rosso. Great QPR. Cherry/red fruits with vanilla, fresh baked cookies, and smoke on the nose. Long finish.

Agree very much with JRICK. Possible it can improve. The style is different compared with The Rosso from Le Potazzine. Darker and maybe also a bit more polished but with same focus on elegance.

I get cherry and mature strawberries in this very reda fruited and easy-going Rosso. Also earth, salt and licorice, and certainly a dried violet florality. There is also quite a bit of Cola to me. Maybe a little bit lacking in structure, the tannins are fine in an attractive way but the acidity could be higher and fresher. With air the wine firms up in an improving way. I really like this rosso, a simple but lovely wine, perfect expression of it's terroir, elegant, easygoing, great with food and well balanced!

if you like Sangiovese you will love this bottle. Purity and Identity are the 2 words that come at first to mind... from the nose it is so obvious this is Sangiovese, very elegant (as this grape should always be), clean and with a pure fruit, the color is gentle and elegant as the palate, with a very soft tannin, for me this is pure elegance and I am very keen to see how this will drink in the next …
