Unlike the rest of the case this was tight, acidic, tannic with a struggle to find any fruit. Almost too young whereas other bottles much more evolved. The only thing that tamed it after four days opened was some mature cheddar.

Another delicious wine, that perfectly fits my taste profile. Why? A lot of blueberries are here! Incredible texture: silky, velvety, milky. My tongue simply "dances" around each red drop of this Bacchus nectar ( stop to be "poetic" W.G.!). Ok, let's go back to reality. Smell? Ooops. Give me stronger aromas and I give you 96 points. Black fruits, minerals, graphite. Forget about the smell. The action is in the taste. As I wrote above: lovely mix of blueberry, red …

A lovely nose of smoke and brambles and plum, the palate is almost resolved, some fine tannins remain, the palate doesn’t quite stand up to the nose, it has some decent dark berry fruit, a little tar or development and a fair finish, good blue and drinking pretty well now

Double decanted to remove the sediment. Nose of truffle and undergrowth. In the mouth few if any tannins, so very smooth. The undergrowth still present along with some dark fruits. Tastes like it is already needing to be drunk up, though even the conservative Wine Soc gives it until 2027.

Color : medium + red with purple tone. Nose : not much, but some leather Taste : bit flat. Unexpectedly seems already over the top.

Early days but ready to drink. Still primary. The fruit is quite sweet and ripe but it’s not soft or flabby.

Excellent.

Brief note from memory. Little bit disappointed by how this showed. Some shy dark fruit, a little oak polish but all rather reserved on nose and palate. Seemed that only the last glass on day 2 the wine relaxed and let a purity of blackberry fruit properly emerge. In a closed phase, perhaps?

Looks primary and coming off the back of the enjoyable 2013s I was worried this would be too young. The nose is pretty direct, black fruit and white pepper and that’s your lot. But it’s fresh fruit, punchy and ripe and the spice is just a buzz note. In the mouth the black fruit, currants, berries are clean, briskly acidic and perfectly ripe. The sweetness carries on even as the iron/rust and tapenade notes come to the fore. And here’s …

Initially very primary on both the nose and palate with lots of dark and fresh fruit to the fore. On the palate there is juicy black fruit and a touch of black olive and spice. There is searing acidity that really makes you're mouth water. Tannins make themselves known but are unobstrusive. This has plenty of life ahead of it and is probably worth leaving alone for a couple of years at which point I might expect it to score …

Nice, but in the taste a bit light, compared to the dark colour.

Glengarry Grand Tasting - Day 2; 9/1/2014-9/2/2014 (Glengarry Wines and Spirits, Victoria Park, Auckland, New Zealand) : Perfect hue for its age. Sweaty armpits. Early maturity. This is excellent - serious, dense, dark and nuanced.

– tasted a single glass non-blind over approx. 10 min. – NOSE: spicy; violets; cigarbox; not as expressive on the Nose as the regular ‘08 St. Joseph from this domaine. TASTE: blackberry fruit and a hint of leather; this is richer than the regular ‘08 St. Joseph, and has greater depth of fruit and structure, as well; oaky tannins; great acidity. This saw 100% oak, ranging in age from 1 to 3 years of age.
