RAPET Corton Pougets GC. A little purer red than the Merode. The fruit in the nose and the palate is younger and fresher than Merode. Immediately on opening at noon this is tight and ungiving so I decant. At dinner the med red with tawny edge wine gives oxidative hint to to the red berry fruit. After an hour of drinking the oxidative bit disappears (!) Generous fruit, silky feel this is athletic and very good. Still rather primary and I am apt to take M Rapet's guidance as to the 25 year potential of this.

Zoom blind tasting #2 (At home during circuit breaker) : A real contrast to the 1970 Vougeot that came before - this smelt and tasted like the baby of the group. The nose was reductive and had a bit of sulphur to it that needed some swirling to lift. Beyond that there was a real lift of sweet, slightly candied blueberries and boysenberries along with deep, flowery violet puffs, and maybe just a tiny little hint of spice. The palate …

Medium red with garnet edge. Red fruit, sous bois. Integrated, balanced and ready.

Dark red, clean with watery rim and a very light touch of brown shades. Nose of cherries, red apples, strawberries, wet soil, stones. On the palate restrained sour fruit, leathery texture and bitter-spicy tannins. Evolved yet still with fresh and powerful acidity and good grip. Salty, tight. Medium body. Vibrant and delicate. Easy another decade ahead.

Perfumed nose. Red berry fruit and soil. Long, nuanced finish. Excellent.

Light, fresh. medium acidity. Very northern in style. Tannins are still green, but I am not sure that will become more ripe with time

Extremely fresh red fruit. Firm but not dry. Long. M. Rapet says the 2008 is like the 1988, which has aged beautifully. 4.7
