Vinous and minerally, this was more like a white wine with bubbles rather than an effervescent wine. Buttery with good autolytic characters, this lacked vibrancy and fruit. The sparkle had faded and all in all fell a little flat. Needed to be drunk up sooner. CHP 87 pts Disgorgement 12.03.18

Tasted this wine in both a Reidel flute and a standard wine glass (also Reidel). Surprisingly, it was better in the flute—the wine display more energy, depth, and hid some of the “flaws” that was more prominent in the standard glass. All in all, good crunchy fruit, with lots of minerality. Slight metallic aftertaste. The vintage helped to bring out more fruit, and the age intensified the red and yellow apple profile. But I honestly wish this has some dosage, …

The nose was phenomenal with lots of yeasty brioche the mousse quite lovely. But on the palate a little unbalanced, lots of acidity and a slight bitter finish - a bit short and tasted older than I expected. Still good but not amazing.

[UtregsWijnhuisXTerroir] No detailed notes. Always love LB and this cuvee is no exception. Quite rich, ripe fruit, loads of dough. Great stuff

Sourdough and yeast along with oxidative notes of nuts. There’s a pinch of sherry there in the mix, too. The fruit consists of partly citric and partly bruised pear flavors. Mineral notes of slate. Nicely fresh palate with good markers for tension, structure and length. More pronounced oxidative notes on the palate, providing for a more advanced feeling. Good to go with some aging potential left, but probably not much more than 10 years I reckon.

Chardonnay from Vertus (Côte des Blancs), biodynamic farming, the fermentation with indigenous yeasts and the malolactic was undertaken spontaneously in Stockinger casks and vats, second fermentation in the bottle took at least 6 years, 0g dosage, 12.5% vol. Nice mousse with small bubbles, on the nose it starts with toast and gets hazelnuts, apricot with a suggestion of citrous fruits, on the palate quite complex, reflecting the nose with a hint of bitter orange on top, starts to be on …

Appearance is clear, pale lemon with delicate mousse & fine bubbles. Given ca. 30min to open, the nose is intense with salinity/ wet stones coupled with ripe green apple, lemon, pastry and chalk. Very interesting palate, with practically no dosage, high acidity, yet medium(+) body for a BdB... The texture is complex without overwhelming lees/ oak influence. Flavors are in line with the nose, if not for a slight fresh strawberry touch and more pronounced citrus, and the finish is …

From magnum. Best after having been opened for 5 hours - wonderful balance of richness (tempered by acidity), honey, orange blossom, and lemon. Long finish. Only knock is a shy mousse, without as much sparkle as one might hope (even on opening).

So consistent and so good! I detected a bit more bruised apple on the finish tonight. Nevertheless, this is one of my favorite < $100 bottles of Champagne.

2nd bottle from a 6 pack...had the frst bottle ~10 mos ago. Lovely bready Champagne, with notes of lemon rind, apples, and saline. Brisk and energetic, with a long and linear finish. Drink through 2030+.

Medium gold colour. Rich and bready on the nose. The palate is bursting with peach cobbler, apple pie, lemon tart and roasted hazelnuts. Fresh with soften acidity leading to a long honeyed finish. Drink now or hold.

Initial fresh chalkiness and lemon on the palate expands to a much richer/slightly oxidative rounder perceived sweet palate . Really powerful which makes sense for 2012. Biscuit/pancake thing as it opens up. In a fantastic place right now. Aging a bit faster than I expected so drink soon I think.

Delicate gold in the glass. Expressive, rich nose with spiced yellow apple, pastry and citrus oil. A honeyed edge. Light to medium bodied with great freshness. Long, savoury touched finish. Drink now or hold. Far more open and knit together than the 16 tasted recently. Really enjoyed this.

Had for tenth anniversary. Good, well made, great bubbles but lacked complexity and had little depth. Not sure if the bottles I've had were off based on other notes here but these just didn't measure up. Maybe I prefer more mineral/ salinity. Again it's a fine well made champagne but not sure I'd search these out again.

Loved this. Huge aromas of lemon zest and touches of apples. Really a super pure and focused wine which is at once both pure and weightless and immensely flavorful. Incredibly juicy acidity that keeps this fresh and delicious.

This is starting to ender that more luscious, golden state of development but unfortunately the bubbles in this bottle had gone a bit flat and listless. I need my champagne with more pep. Hopefully other bottles' corks did their jobs better.

This bottle has LB signature stamped all over it. Oak treatment, lots of cream cheese, lightly oxidative, lemon curd, yellow apples and brioche. Penetrating jolt of acidity and finishes fine at the back. Muscular and vinous stuff. It’s like a dish cooked with tons of seasoning and fortunately, I love a robust taste.

Surprised by the relatively low recent ratings of this on here, I thought this was stunning. Elegance and finesse but with strong underlying fruit, toastiness and hazelnuts. Paired nicely with sushi. 3 bottles to go, looking forward to future development

Similar to the bottle I had last May. I’m always glad when these no dosage Champagnes don’t have the searing acidity that is painful, and this one has a richness that cuts the acidity. Green apple, orange zest, and a bit of nuttiness that makes this quite enjoyable.

Saturday hangout at Domaine (Chicago, IL) : Good richness, thanks to the vintage, but I can't help but detect a very slight hint of green underneath everything. Nevertheless, there's a nice fruit profile here, and breadth that seems hard to find in grower champagne these days. Quite acid-driven despite the fruit and weight overall.

1st bottle from a 6 pack, cracked this as a prelude to cooking during NYE. Incredibly bright and tense, this 2014 Brut Nature is developing nicely, with notes of bread crust, chalk, lemon zest, and sage. The acidity is quite apparent due to no dosage, and the finish lasts for over a minute. Loved it.

I was a little worried opening this after the P. Peters Les Chetillons 2004, but it really stood up to it. Perfectly mature and open for business, with notes of citrus, bruised apples, some sweet spices, some chalky minerality too, some honey, nuts and just overall nice structure and fruit. It‘s medium-full bodied, with pretty high acidity and some slightly creamy mousse. Very long finish. An excellent grower‘s Champagne of a very high level.

I normally don't like serving my champagne too cold, but this time, I served it too warm at almost 50 degrees. This made the flavors in the wine become too bold and pronounced. Somewhere in the middle from a temp perspective would be better, say around 43-45 degrees. This is still one of my favs, I just wanted it a touch colder.

This was tied for my one of the night with the marguet and vilmart. I really couldn't pick a favorite between them and so everyone got a participation medal 🥇 Medium gold color. Notice had yellow fruit. The mouthful was light and zippy with yellow apple and more Chardonnay characteristics. I wrote down fleshy which is interesting for something with zero dosage. Just goes to show you.

Paul's Annual Champagne Tasting (2023 edition, all from Magnum) (At Paul's Place) : Been a year since I have had one off these, and man, this bottle showed as good, maybe better than the one that wowed me in April of 2022. September 2021 disgorgement, this was just gorgeous to drink. 100% Chard from Vertus with no dosage. Has a smoky character, I assume from the large cask it's raised in.
