The combination of the vintage and the special cuvee made for superb drinking. Peach, apricot, papaya with exploding flavor and terrific harmony. A real treat.

Dark gold, super fragrant; extremely concentrated but not out of balanced with carmelized apricot pie crust, nearly burned cooked peach/apricot pie crust; intense and packed with flavor, but also with tons of lift. Fantastic, special stuff. EWG Merlot/SB blends--whites and reds at Duck House

This is the best Sauternes I've ever tasted. It's pure, it's not cloying, it's not showing any sign of being too old. It's incredible! It's butterscotch in a glass with subtle secondary flavors.

From 375mL. Golden-orange color, good for its age; aromatic, orange marmalade, honey, treacle, still with some orange blossom freshness; palate is full bodied, orange blossom and orange marmalade, certainly sweet and rich but also has a strong core of minerality and acidity throughout, medium alcohol (13.5%), good persistence through the midpalate; medium-long finish. This still seems youthful to very early maturity, and this will easily improve for 2+ decades. I'll try to wait another decade before opening up another half …

KYD #2.3 (Møntnergade) : Compact and dense fruit with a lovely intensity. It does seems to lack a little bit of acidity to really balance out the fruit. Over time this could hopefully improve and in general it is an impressive wine.

Very intense nose of caramel, apricot, orange ring, vanilla, toast, dried apricot, and lemon. The palate, however, is very very sweet with good acidity, although not nearly enough to balance out the sweetness. The flavors are similar to the nose with apricot, peach, lemon, and orange notes. Long finish. A bit of a shame that the palate is so over-the-top, because the flavors and complexity are amazing.

Tasted blind. So much apricot, honeycomb, vanilla bean, suntan lotion, citrus blossom. Fat, opulent, pretty delicious. Tastes exactly like Sauternes but much sweeter than most, with good acidity holding it together.

Tasted blind. Wonderful nose-ocean spray, dried apricot, Mediterranean, Florida oranges. So sunny, so undeniably good. A very unique and exceptional Sauternes.

This is so rich and concentrated, it is difficult to resist the urge to taste the wine with a spoon! The incredible power and length, matched with intensity is something to experience. The melange of tropical fruits seem to be drenched in honey. Still, I wish there was a tad more acidity to further enhance the vibrancy in the finish.

From a half. Wax was a pain to remove. Color is an orangish-gold; nose is very intense with white fruits, nectarine, apricot, baking spices, very slight paint thinner; palate is full bodied, concentrated, great purity of fruit including nectarines, superb acidity especially on the midpalate that more than balances the increased sweetness; long finish, finishes fresh like an icewine. This is a very atypical Sauternes with a complex nose and an atypically pure and young palate with far more concentration …

Very attractive, bold nose - typical ripe orange and honeyed tropical fruit and citrus notes. More intense than any other young Sauternes/Barsac that I've ever had. An in-your-face wine with a seriously thick, spongy texture and pure, lovely flavors. Absolutely delicious and decadent now but very forward and, while by no means cloying, with rather low relative acidity that, excepting Climens, I've found universally in the 2001s I've had. More resemblance to a powerhouse, Yquem-like style than a more elegant …

Medium yellow colour. Very intense bouquet on notes of abricot, flowers, and dafodills. Large bodied with the most exquisitely fresh, crisp, and precise structure and flavour. Dense, sweet, and elegant with marvellous purity and grip, and complexity for days. I am wondering how good Yquem will be in 2001 when this wine is THIS good...The details and resolution of the sweetness is astounding, and there seemed to be endless layers of dimensions to this wine. The aftertaste was sweet, hamonious, …
