My first bottle of La Berta Solano, but as a big fan of Fèlsina I was anxious to try it. And I’m glad I did. Consumed over three nights, the wine has a medium++ body (for Sangiovese), a perfect 13.5%, a youthful crimson color, lots of acid and tannin structure, a spicy and satisfying mid-palate, a nice mixture of bright and dark fruits, and a dry, mineral finish. 90 today and could be 91-92 if it smoothes out its rough …

Red cherries, cranberries, tomato leaf, black licorice, anise and other spice notes. Medium bodied, medium + acid. Overall, acid and tannins on this seem smoother than on on Tuscan Sangiovese, and the black licorice note seems unique. Great pairing with pasta with black truffle sauce!
