End of the Vine Cabernet Sauvignon Coombsville

My last bottle. Those that were purchased on the first availability drank extremely well. The latest purchase some years later, the wine was decent but very rough, heavy, very dark, closed and not as well balanced. This last bottle, I aerated and decanted for 3 hours and it finally opened up and was a decent drinker. Maybe I didn�t give the prior bottles from the last purchase enough time to open up. Full body, dark fruits and balanced with that Coombsvile Cab taste profile. Aerated and decanted for 2 hours prior. Tasty with a nice bone-in ribeye. Smooth finish, very mellow tannin. The last few bottles have been much better than the first few from this second library purchase. I wonder if it was in a dumb stage for a year or two which is not characteristic of Cali Cabs.

This bottle was much better than the previous two and closer to the original bottles purchased some years back. I did however do some heavy aeration and decanting before drinking. Maybe 3 hours worth.

Disappointed in this wine. It was one of my favorites. However, this last case which was from stored library inventory from the distributor (and sold at a higher price point) doesn't have it together as well. It is a full-body, dark, brooding, dry, with a somewhat rough finish. It has the Coombsville flavor notes, but more muted fruits and maybe disjointed in its flavor structure. Pop and poured this one. It doesn't show as well. Dark and a bit muted. Needs aeration and decanting.

Was able to secure another case. Similar to last note but was a touch off compared to prior bottles probably from how it was stored but still very good. Full body, dark fruits that stains your teeth with that coombsville terroir profile.

Available again in limited quantity from Westgate Wine. I still have 3 or 4 bottles from when it was originally offered.

My last bottle. Full body. Very dark and lush wine. Great drinker with steaks. Wish I had more.

Still going strong. Shared with friends who enjoyed it very much. Great with red meats. Nice rich and full Cab flavor profile. Best value in the EOV family.

Great berries on the nose. Smooth tannins with nice finish. Each bottle a little better over last couple of years. Great bargain.

Developing some extra weight but still very good.

At it's peak right now. Fruit is dropping a little but it is great. Should be good for another couple years.

Similar to last note but feels a touch denser and richer than last bottle. Quite good and friends loved it.

Full body, with lots of dark fruit - cherries, blackberry and blueberry and touch of licorice and spice. Had a mild vegetal finish and some tannins. Tasted with 2013 Caymus Cab and was quite similar in style.
