Dark yellow; nutty and somewhat oxidized; so what are you looking for? A “fresh” old wine with layers of complexity? - not this one; an interesting old wine with oxidiation, a bit of nuttyness, no freshness, but some other flavours which are agreeable - this is the one; so all in all, not a fabolous experience at all, but won’t pour it down the sink either

Bright gold color. Aromas of apples, tea, pineapple and almond skins. Ripe, full-bodied fruit in the mouth with very good depth and depth. Though moderately oxidized, the fruit was fully intact and persistent on the palate and delicious with my wife’s spicy spot prawns.

Fast Times at the Frey's : This does taste like a Kistler. Big and toasty. There is enough acidity here, but it could use more. Full-bodied.

Fast Times at the Frey's : Medium gold color. Drank a 4 oz pour over an hour. Drank this next to a '10 Shafer RSR and there certainly was a big step up with the Kistler. A fairly big wine no doubt, but not such that it screams at you. I found it very attractive all around. The nose has lovely golden fruits, rich and complex with peah and melon in addition to a toasted oak that was complimenting the …

Dinner with Friends : Golden in color, big aroma. Chablis like minerality but with rich lucious texture. Peaches, brioche, orange jam with a finish that goes on for almost a minute.

Classic Cali bold chard. Dark gold color. Big nose of vanilla, oak, and lush oak. Palate was thick with gobs of toasted oak, vanilla and ice cream. Very tasty but difficult to drink with food.

Color of very ripe pineapple. When popped and poured while too cold the oak was excessive, but this did come together much better after warming. Nice flavors of pear, pineapple, apple and tangerine. Good depth. Nice finish.

Am I crazy, or does this bottle say 'Sonoma Coast?' dark edged yellow lees palate. Not that oaky lots of cherrio grain, roasted sweet corn sweet fruit. Killer acid and balance, not buttery, not too creamy. More about corn and acid. Hold well on the second day. I wasn’t expecting this to be in such good shape. Drink to 2018.

Exact match of bottle consumed on 8/1/2012. Drink now and enjoy it a peak drinking window. Awesome creamy butterscotch with tropical fruit galore this wine is smoking! No longer a green tinged pale yellow color but more golden like a Y'Quem. Not oxidized but oak has melted away and this appears fully mature.

Lovely aromatic nose; sweet apple pie/cobbler with an underpinning of soft mineral notes; nice classic, round but balanced mouth, elegant with a good dose of oak, but well integrated; mineral/rocks show through in this wine with good backbone and a long finish. Very nice Classic California Chardonnay, not trying to be anything it isn't.

loads of apple pie, butter, tamarind paste, lemon, pineapple and charred oak on the nose that develops into a more vanilla and smoke tinted aromatic profile with some time. Palate is full, but gentle, not a sloppy, lazy mouthfeel and not overly extracted or oaked. Very good wine, but I'm afraid it's difficult to justify the price.

Big popcorn, ashen creamy, tight spicy barrel flavors. Big, but not a fat slut. BB King, perhaps. This is very good, flavor complexity with all this great acid. !!!!! On day 3, this wine really took off into Meursault territory. Buy, buy. Insane chard at $60ish.

A step down from the '07 Kistler Vine Hill from a few months ago and not the best bottle of this wine I have had, but still solid. Super rich and aromatic, as expected for this producer, with lemon curd and honey. Alcohol spikes mid palette and finish.

Initial nose of oak and blend of citrus/pear. The palate shows additional notes of cotton candy, pineapple, minerality. Others not so impressed with this wine, but I found it very enjoyable. Beating out other chards being tasted that night.

4/24/201196 points Sea salt caramel popcorn is my first instinct, then I try to focus in the fruit but that butter, pleasant butter, not over powering seems to linger with me. Pear, and slight lemon zest follow with great acid to counter balance. This is a harmonious wine that I recommend either with seafood or by itself.

I did not write down specific notes because I was quite disappointed. By far not the concentration and complexity I experienced with some older vintages in the past. Nevertheless an ok wine. The McCrea 2006 I tasted beside this wine is so much better.

Perhaps I just don't understand this wine but, for all the years of hype that's preceded it, I was sorely disappointed. Nice straw color. Slowly blossoming aromatics, which started with both tropical & stone fruits; melding nicely into slightly buttery oak. What disappointed was that the mouthfeel & palate-impression was rather simple/flat, with none of those aromatics carrying into the taste profile. Hopelessly lost between the steel fermented style in current favor and the rich, round, full-malo unctuousness of Cali …
