Had two bottles of this - both were overly funky, possibly aged too long

B This is a seductive, fruity, well structured and ready to drink Beaujolais. Violets on the nose, love in the heart and a bowl of hearty soup on a rainy day. How can any wine that brings joy on any given day be anything other than a 100 point wine. I love Beaujolais!

Opened and paired with roast pork vegetable soup. Dark purple-crimson. The nose brings Manhattan bitters, cherry blossoms, potpourri, and grape hard candy. The palate is medium, square, dense, and compact, bringing sour cherries, orange peel, and pomegranate mixed with cloves, smoke, and strawberry pie into a supple finish. Drink 2020-2024. Technical score: 90. Enjoyment score: 92.

Nice, mature bojo. It has secondary flavors but retains some primary bojo fruit.

A nice deep garnet color. Initially, there was some pronounced Brett, laying like a thick fog over the fruit. Hours later, the Brett has receded and the fruit is nice and clear, dark raspberries and plums, some nice spice. This is definitely still in a very primary phase, good now and for another 5-10 years.

Cru Beaujolais can age too! Enjoyed this with just the right amount of chill on it. Could easily have gone another 5 years or more

Red fruit that comes in with strong, delicious acidity and a nice, albeit slight finish. Doug liked, Kathryn did not. Table French/Light fare.

Still some signs of brett, but enjoyable enough for now, need to find the other bottles in the cellar. Better the second day I used a Vacu vin to save bottle, pulled some of the fizz out. The risk of unfiltered wines.

No green this time. Instead we got lovely aromas and flavors of barnyard. Deep dark fruit. Darn, our last. Extremely enjoyable over three nights.

In a nice place right now, scented with clean mud and violets, exhibits nice stone and minerality now that the cherry fruit flavors have taken a back seat, lovely notes of licorice on the finish, still fresh and alive, drinking at the pinnacle now, shows well with cheeses

Still like this wine but it is showing signs of delayed Brett growth, bit of CO2 prickle on the tongue, slight barnyard funk, lack of fresh fruit. Time to bail on what in the cellar. The downside danger of no filtration. Still some pleasure but drink asap.

Faded. Brown juice with no tannin and super dark, cooked, stewed fruit. I’ve had the 04 recently and it was much better so I’m guessing this 07 hasn’t been stored correctly.

Raspberry, pomegranate and crushed nuts on the nose. Flavors follow on the palate. Rich for a Cote de Brouilly, yet with a slight prickle on the tongue (trapped carbon). Good finish, and fine balance. Not complex but young yet, with considerable upside. Very good.

Perhaps just not what I expected when I popped it after a long day, hoping for good but fairly easy. Instead, very funky, which I often like, but here it verged on flaw. Indeed, perhaps it was, but after the chinon of the previous nights, it didn't seem too bad, but also not as good as the chinon. Quite a dilemma.

Drinking really well. If you’re exploring Beaujolais Crus as I am, this falls about midway between Regnie and Moulin a Vent on the “flav-o-meter”. Distinctive Gamay “bubblegum” aroma. Bright, ripe raspberry and strawberry, with cinnamon and underbrush earthiness on the palate. Smooth tannins and a longish finish. A really nice wine at a great QPR.

Far better than the insipid Borgogne I tasted yesterday. Of course Beaujolais is under tariff threat so the future of this strategy is poor. This is a lovely wine.

Sort of smells like moist humid air with dark red berry and red plum skin. Palate is a bit chalky. A bit flatter than I thought it would be, but still good fruit, spice and decent tannin.

Dark violet. Black raspberries, cinnamon and flowers on the generous nose. Intense palate of berries, spices and earth, well-focused with a lovely delicate texture and good length. Great balance with a nice edge of well-integrated tannin and acid. Truly a great vintage for this wine. No hurry, but irresistible now.

Unique sugar cookie nose. Not sweet, but yeasty, cinnamon, orange zest? Relatively straightforward. Nice acidity, some strawberry fruit and a bit of damp earth. Not much finish. Easy drinking - but not much stuffing left, I’d guess.

First time drinking aged Beaujolais, but so far not a fan. The bottle seemed disjointed. Tasted darker than expected (with strong anise/licorice flavor sticking out). I was expecting a more mellow/integrated wine with some tertiary flavors.

This is already terrific. Nose is pleasant but funky. Mouthfeel is full but not plodding. Nice Gamay taste on the front end, but the mid and finish is where this wine stands out, with earthiness, black fruit, and tannins that come back for more. The rep pouring this wine said 2017 is going to be age worthy, and I agree. Got this on sale for $16.99 and at that price it is a no brainer. Recommended!

This is coming together, but I think a couple more years will allow this to really blossom. It's very dry with tea-like qualities and a restrained amount of fruit (for a Bojo). Very consistent with this producer's style. Very enjoyable.

Opened and let air in the fridge 1.5 hours ahead of lemon chicken, peas, and mashed potatoes. Cloudy crimson color. Nose brings peppermint, strawberries, cherry bitters, and dried leather. The palate is medium-light, round, and tart, delivering candied strawberries, dried cherries, cranberries, cloves, and cinnamon sticks into a dry finish. Well balanced and linear in scope, but a lovely quaffer. Drink 2018-2021. Technical score: 90. Enjoyment score: 91.

Peony and rhubarb aromas lead to sour cherry, pomegranate and mulberry flavors. Great balance of acidity/fruit, light density (for a red) and a lingering finish that includes a hint of tree bark. An excellent example of well-made Beaujolais from the Brouilly appellation. And a great QPR to boot.
