Still beautiful but, if not drunk with food, seems to be fading. Honeyed notes. Surprisingly present with strong-flavored dishes. Bright acidity. Long, gentle finish.

Gorgeous wine drinking beautifully now. Honeyed notes on the nose. Palate has honey, straw, talc, and deep ponderous notes. Big, balanced acidity. Long, but full and rich, finish. Sexy texture. Serve this wine at red wine temperature to let it express itself well.

The Rotating Dinners, I.1: California Syrah (Chicago, IL) : Served blind. Intriguing herbal and spicy nose that had me thinking gewürztraminer. The palate is quite honeyed and sweet, but there is just incredible acidity there that makes this wine very captivating. Ended up guessing a gewürztraminer blend. The freshness on this made it easy to peg its age as very young.

California Syrah (Webster Wine Bar) : Served blind. Pale straw. Medium nose of melons, white fruit, honey and waxy notes. Lighter body with modest fruit and good acid-driven freshness and lift. On the simpler side but a refreshing and pleasant white rhone. A tough one to figure blind.
