I’ve been tasting this since 2012. Immediately accessible these days. A very well balanced, feminine wine that paired exceptionally well with sous vide duck. These are now in their prime with at least another decade of optimal drinking. Sadly, this was my last bottle from a case purchased in 2012.

Complex and mature bouquet with coffee, tobacco, earth, autumn forest, mushrooms and sweet spices. On the palate bell pepper, chocolate and a lot of acidity. Drying in the finish.

75 min decant- medium bodied, near perfect balance, above average finish, near or at prime but will hold for another 10 years. Good value. Looking forward to my remaining 11 bottles.

Decanted 2.5 hours- a better wine with additional decant- went from a heavy unbalanced wine to a perfectly in sync glass- tasted next to a Walter Hansel 2010 north slope Pinot- the hansel was much bigger and more fruit forward- Ballot's finish was better and lingered longer.

Decanted for 60 minutes- light and smooth- great overall wine and finish.

Fairly concentrated and full-bodied for burgundy, with a fragrant nose of cherry, mint, beets, and a hint of citrus peel. Elegantly structured with good mouthfeel and cherry, plum, and damson fruit flavors are displayed in a muscular frame. Medium long finish, with dry but fine-grained tannins.

This is a big balanced and complex wine with lots of depth from and from a lesser known appellation.
