Warm white in color with a modest mousse. The aroma is proper Blanc de Blanc in nature with light intensity. The mouthfeel is also proper methode de champenoise in structure, but something in the flavor prevails throughout that just screams, “California” to me. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but I am wanting for more acidic spine and less flab. 4+11+15+7= 87

Lovely wine. Has a delightful mixture of finesse, depth, and length. Begins with a nice bite, moves into more typical full-bodied chardonnay flavors, ends with a hint of aged/autolytic notes. Absolutely could have fooled me as a vintage champagne.

Very reliable producer, citrus, lemon, pear with nice bubbles with a touch of brioche. As always maybe just a tad to much dosage but nonetheless always a crowd favorite.

At Jua, New York: The first glass of the wine pairing, with a crispy nori roll (rice and tuna, topped with caviar). Bracing and delicious. My daughter loved it. An excellent Champagne alternative at an attractive price.

Pioneers of sparkling in Napa. Property is dug into Diamond Mountain. All Champagne method. Medium plus nose shows green apple, brioche, lemon peel, lemon verbena. Palate is solid, medium bodied, nicely focused, citrus and pear fruits, lighter on brioche, sourdough. More Champagne-esque than most CA examples, but doesn't go any farther than that. Nice QPR.

Nose: Yeast dough and lemon zest. Palate: Brioche, lemon juice, lemon oil, underripe pineapple. High acidity, medium body, fairly smooth mousse, low perceived dosage. Really nice, but the lemon is a bit much for my personal taste.

Drank over two days. Four years on the lees, 8g/L dosage, 100% chardonnay. Poured a light straw color with a mousse that resembled soap bubbles more than a typical champenoise-style sparkler. Fortunately, looks are deceiving and the mouthfeel was nothing of the sort, with the more typical tiny bubbles ever present, although not as creamy/full as the J Schram variants. Typical of most Schramsberg BdBs, green apple and citrus right out of the gate. Over time, this also gave some …

Very good bubbly, but perhaps not worth the price. My first Schramsberg, this is more austere than most California sparkling wines. Complex, reminding me of Champagne. Gets better as it warms, as do most good sparkling wines.

81% pinot noir,19% chardonnay. Excellent profile, lending structure to make this very food friendly. Nose has pineapple, apple, honey, brioche. Very fine bubbles bursting on palate with brioche, lemon, dried pineapple, honey suckle, and white peach. Really enjoyable and should improve with more bottle aging. We live the oxidative notes of older Scramsbergs.

Fairly yeasty nose. Some nuttiness. Coarse bubbles. Somewhat neutral finish with a touch of bitterness. But on the whole comes across as too much dosage for my tastes in the sense of being slightly off dry and heavier than it needs to be.

Aroma, not much. Mouthfeel is unusually saturated for a Sparkling combined with light subtle ripe fruit, hints of honey, mineral and nutty notes, yes yeast hiding behind the bubbles. The overall impression of a complex Bubbly, both voluptuous and svelt.

The nose has an interesting medicinal, moxie bouquet. The wine definitely has a strong varietal character. It taste like an overripe California pinot noir. There are some grapefruit and cola notes but it is not citrusy enough to cut the cloy in the aftertaste. It is well made and if you like Cal. pinots this could be up your alley in sparkling form.
