Lightly chilled with barbecued salmon and lamb, soft red fruit, some tannin, a nice package.

50mm nat. cork enclosure. Med garnet colour. Med intensity nose with dark cherry, vanilla, spice, raspberry, sweet red cherry, stewed red plum’s skin and black pepper. Med(+) body, med acidity, med(+) tannin and a lovely balance. Pronounced intensity and lovely fruit driven finish.

Somewhat belied the reputation of Chiroubles as one of the earliest-drinking crus, as this wine had noticeable tannin even a little while after opening. Very good though regardless, with a cool, stony, mineral quality and ample dark cherry fruit. Easy drinking but stood up well to Thai red curry with sirloin steak.
