Lamy-Caillat Chassagne-Montrachet

Outstanding on the nose (94). Typical great classical Burgundy: Toast, butter (more Domaine Leflaive-like than expected but more lean. On the palate a little bitterness and licorice, full body (91) Summary 91+.

Lamy Caillat is one of my favourite producers in Burgundy. Even his humble village Chassagne Montrachet offers great length and intensity. Refined tree fruits with mild reduction. Rounded and creamy with a slight waxy textured. Expansive on the palate. A classy wine. (86/100)

Extremely well made with many years ahead of it. Very complex. Will beat many 1er Cru. Made to last! 93-94+

The 2015 Lamy Caillat Chassagne Montrachet is incredibly well-crafted. Refined and expressive at the level of Arnaud Ente, arguably one of the best producers in Chassagne Montrachet. Shame it is very hard to find his wines. This 2015 Chassagne Montrachet offers smart reduction with expansive airy quality on the palate. Broad shouldered with linear white orchard fruits, no over-ripeness at all. Young and drinking well after decanting. (87/100)

Haven’t had this for a while (more than a year), revisited this, thought it improved from last year condition. Less tropical fruits and more pure and precise white fruits with good acidity. Not super complex on the palate but it is clean, fresh, and offered decent enough weight/structure/acidity as a good village burg white wine.

Lamy Caillat wines are incredibly precise and charming. This 2015 Chassagne Montrachet offers an aristocratic bouquet of neat white fruits, mild reductive struckmatch with modern-styled texture and sweet pear fruits. Lovely fruit density and weight for a village wine. Drinking well now with a decant. (88/100)

Nose has tropical fruit, sulphur and nut fruit. Palate is a bit ripe due to the vintage but it has good weight for a village wine.
