Dark garnet, rust colored, medium full bodied, earthy black currant, plum and black cherry fruits with notes of herbs, spices, black tea and cassis, pain grille and hint of vanilla with moderate tannins on the finish. https://unwindwine.blogspot.com/2025/12/memorable-wines-for-christmas-eve.html

Decanted for 5 hours and paired with NY Strips. No bricking and quite lively. Black and blue fruit, some forest floor, good acidity, mellow oak, tannins smooth, a really lovely bottle. Some tertiary characteristics creeping in, but not a lot. Food and a long decant both required at this point. Lots of life left here.

Medium garnet. Very intense nose, some old library smell, followed by a pot pourris of dried and baked fruits, iron and licorice aromas. Full body, soft, noticeable alcohol heat though only 14.5c. Very ripe fruit, Blue and black fruit liqueur, licorice, some sourness. Long and silky finish. Very good. Lacks bit of acidity to balance.

Oof! In a very fine drinking window indeed - like catching Venus just before sunrise. The fruit still hums with youthful mischief, yet the old cellar gods have clearly been whispering their wisdom. Primary, secondary and tertiary notes in perfect parliamentary harmony - no filibustering here. Job done. Thanks be to God… and to the good burghers of La Nerthe, who clearly struck a deal with Bacchus himself.

Opened and poured a short time later. Age-appropriate bricking with a medium red core. Aromas of red currants, plum, garrigue, bay leaf and hickory. Medium-bodied, showing lovely red berry fruit and herbal notes on the palate. There’s just a hint of something vegetal there too, but in such a small amount that it adds complexity and doesn’t detract from the overall experience. A wonderful example of mature CndP. Drink now. Nice dark ruby/garnet with very slight lightening at the edges. On the nose, upon opening, aromas of red fruit, dark fruit (plums, grapes, and black cherries), spices and garrigue herbs. On the palate, the attack is frank, fruity, lifted and with the aromas as found on the nose. Still quite a bit of angular tannin on the palate, with a coffee touch. Quite nice at the 1 hour mark! I was concerned when I read the other tasting notes saying …

Medium ruby fading to a garnet rim. On PnP, the nose is smoky and savory, dried game meat and leather, garrigue, and baking spice, with background notes of dark fruit. On the palate, there’s a strong backbone of acidity, and more red-toned fruit on the front transitioning into leather and finishing with cedar and spice. Tannins are present but very fine-grained. If there was a perfect pairing for roast game and demi, this would be it.

Preciso, elegante, maturo. Mix di spezie, pepe, cannella, liquirizia, poi frutti rossi, prugna e ciliegia. In fondo cuoio e nota affumicata. Tannini a grana molto fine. Struttura che si sente ma non deborda. Ottimo finale.

First time with LA Nerthe CdP. Had with Cassoulet. Med+ body. Med acidity. Agree with other reviews less fruit, but not tertiary yet. Did enjoy first few hours out of bottle more than later on that evening. No complaints, nice bottle, but nothing super memorable. Suprised to see these going for ~$80 usd now at some places. Poor QPR at that price.

Did not live up to its initial hype and standard, I think this is out of his window. Initially, a very thick and heavy wine however, it lost its impact later in the evening after two hours. Devoid of any real fruit, no pepper notes, not in the same realm as if it was five years ago.

Really enjoyed this with braised lamb. 11 years seemed to be the perfect time frame for cellaring. i checked other folks reviews here and in 2018, 2019 and 2020 they suggested it could go a little longer. Perfect! probably couldn’t go much longer. This was very smooth and well balanced, being older it was only decanted for 20 minutes. the finish was long and consistent, hints of red fruit with a bit of mature blended flavours difficult to pick out …

This was so good, if you have drink now. If you can find some don’t hesitate. Full bodied, smooth tannins and the fruit is perfectly balanced. Ripe cherries, wild blueberries a hint of smoke and a touch of earthiness. Long and extended finish, only one left in my cellar.

Splash double decant. Very very deep magenta color. Anise, raspberry, orange rind, and subtle nutmeg. Smooth, dry palate. Plush, lower intensity tannins on the medium long+ finish. This was a big letdown. I carried this bottle home from Avignon. Seems like it was a bit off. Others at supper club thought this was not bad.

ad-hoc quintet (BYOB) (at my home) : 50% Grenache, 30% Syrah, 15% Mourvèdre, 5% Cinsault - **Appearance**: Deep ruby red with garnet highlights, showing a rich and concentrated hue. - **Nose**: The nose is complex and aromatic, with an enticing blend of ripe red and dark fruits such as black cherry, raspberry, and plum. There's an elegant spiciness, with notes of garrigue (the wild herbs of Provence), black pepper, and sweet spices like cinnamon and clove. Subtle hints of licorice, …

Deep ruby, bramble on the nose with plum and dark cherry notes. Medium bodied - velvety, even grippy tannins are prominent on tongue with some perceptible acidity. Spicy, pepper and anise, some oak. Smoke. Vanilla. Fruits are secondary on the palate, plum, black currant. Lasting flavors with a warm, tannic finish. Drinking better with some air. I'm feeling ambivalent. Thinking this wine will develop and come into balance over the years, keep it in the cellar for now.

Bought from library release. No indication of less than perfect storage. PnP at ~17°C. Nose of cherries and plum. picking up some vanilla, very light herbs (rosemary?) Palate in line with nose, tannins nicely integrated, certainly with some air. Well balanced. Nice and long finish, though I catch myself grabbing the glass again before it’s mellowed out.

Bought for a ludicrous £26 on the table from the Harvey Nicholls sale ~a year ago. Super fresh - just on the more tired end of Ruby perhaps but certainly not garnet. Ripe red fruits on the nose; nothing stewed. Also some vanilla and sweet spices as well as some tertiary, but very much weighted 70/10/20 primary/secondary/tertiary which speaks to the ageability of this. Similar on palate; some medium tannic grip, and anything but sweet/cloying. In the raspberry/cranberry spectrum, albeit …

Very tight upon opening. Let this breathe for at least 1-2 hours. Still has quite a bit of fruit, medium-minus tannin/acid, polished, but almost zero complexity. The 15% alcohol shows itself pretty well. I'm not sure if further cellering will hurt or improve this wine. I'm somewhat uncertain about this...87 points.

Powerful interplay of loam and dark fruit, with slight earth dominance. 14.5% alcohol. Despite serving at c.16C still bit too heady/hot for my taste. Probably a bit better in a few years. 6/24 Dinner w/ Friends : Nothing new to add re: aromatics - it largely mirrored the reviews from VANCOUVER and others. Cloudy medium garnet colour, a lot of fine sediment. Dried, sweet red fruit, toffee, herbal and ethereal notes, earthy notes, and spices, with fully resolved tannin, and good length. Smoothly textured, but very earthy, dirty and unclean, in particular in comparison with today’s standards at La Nerthe.
