Interesting. A little raisin-y, but still some decent red fruit. Still some life left, but I’d drink ‘em if ya got ‘em.

Wow. This wine was a very pleasant surprise. I purchased this from the winery library about a year and a half ago mainly out of interest to try their grenache blend. This wine was much better than my expectations. Pale garnet with some bricking at the rim, the aroma is fantastic. Lots of earth, red fruit, pepper, hints of sweeter baking spice, damp leaves. Really reminds of a middle aged burgundy. The palate is ripe, but not over done with …

Over-rated. Too much new oak and grenache is a recipe for disaster. I wanted to like this considering how much we paid for it ($100) at K. Disjointed and quite hot. Gives all it has around the 2 hr mark. Revisited day 2 and it fell apart - pruney and hot.

Decanted for about 30 mins, then drunk over a few hours. This was a very enjoyable and multifaceted wine. It changed over dinner and with different courses in a very positive way. Initially lots of rasberry on the nose, which developed a strong component of plum over time and finally with dessert, a good dose of cassis. The palate had rather smooth tannins, seems to be at a perfect spot right now for drinking, it was very smooth, although the …

Medium ruby with an amber tinge. WallaWalla nose with smoked ham, dark green olive, and raspberry preserves. Sweet, lush and easygoing on the palate, with smokey brined qualities reemerging among the juicy red berry fruit in the middle and finishing with decent length but soft definition. I'll drink my remaining bottle in 2012. Nice stuff, but overpriced by about 10 dollars. Give the vines some age, perhaps...

Notes from day 2. Dark red to purple in color. Nose of mixed raspberry, tart strawberry, smoked game, little funk, cinnamin. Yesterday there was a little more of the gamey funk of the Cayuse vineyard peaking around on the nose, but today its very subtle. On the palate there is more mixed raspberry, sour cherry, slight game, olive, funk, spice, and a little baker's chocolate tannin on the end. The finish is above average in length and this has really …

I think my former enthusiasm with the K Vintners wines might have been a little too much, but this is still probably one of my favorite wines in the portfolio, and still one of my top domestic Grenache wines. Mostly because even though this is approaching the limit before falling over the top, it still tastes like Grenache. It has that slightly spicy, raspberry liquor thing going on. There's no mistaking the grape. It's also very hedonistic, rich and slightly …

The Walla Walla Wildman: Charles Smith / K Vintners (Wine Exchange - Orange, CA) : Pale ruby core fading at the rim. Pretty and high toned on the nose with wild cherries and lavender. The palate has an attractive glossy texture along with flavors of cherry, raspberry, earth, and herbs. The mid palate seems slightly lean and the structure is reserved but this is a very interesting and elegant wine.

Second great bottle in a row from Charles Smith and K Vintners. Tasty bottle of grenache (94% grenache/6% syrah) made from grapes grown in Cayuse's Armada Vineyard which certainly should do Christophe proud. A touch more red than purple in the glass, the first aromas of cherry liqueur, asphalt, and strawberries fill your nose with anticipation. After about ten minutes, some CdP nuances appear. Roasted fruit, chocolate, even some pork. Sweet and lush in the mouth with berry pie and …

Didn't quite work for me. Very nice smooth, clay / olive nose and juicy attack, then it ends up just finishing too sour. Not sure if it is destined to improve.

Very enjoyable Grenache- Spicy, cherry and plummy red fruit- A definite new world fruit driven profile vs a more earthy Old world, but recognizable as grenache. More refined than many of the cheap spanish garnacha's but not sure it is a better deal. Glad I bought some though.

Blind Grenache tasting. Possibly my favorite of the bunch. A beautiful nose of flowers, strawberries, raspberries and licorice (per Jef), earty (per Lisa). mouth - spritely red fruits (plum, sour cherry), som earthy muskiness as well. An interesting bottle but questionable QPR.

It was not universally loved. 2nd day open more rose and violets on the nose. Still fat palate, and now showing more acidity which actually helps it out somewhat.

Wow. Big crowd pleaser. Big wine, ready to drink, no hint of acid that you normally get with Grenache.

Notes from day two, much more calm today. Goregous color, midnight blackish purple. Nose is candied strawberry, and blue fruit, smoke, as wel with a little spice. On the palate candy strawberry, blueberry with spice and no tannin on the finish. Great bottle, but wish it was a little more complex and had a few secondary flavors. Not the best QPR at 40 ish. Very drinkable and a crowd pleaser.

Good wine. A little bit of earthiness to go along with some great fruit. No tannins to speak of, so it's ready to go now. My only complaint would be that you can find French or Spanish grenache as good as this for maybe half the price.

One of the best bottles of granache that I've ever had. Big and juicy with a great mocha finish. Really delicious.

Soooo polished, but with a personality that embodies Washington Grenache. Dark, rich, smokey, gamey, earthy, peppery, with juicy, black/blue fruit in perfect harmony with the spiciness. Fruit has a candied hint to it but not a Liberace sweetness. Long finish after the juicy, blackberry and a zing of acidity. Mocha and chocolate characteristics emerge after a few minutes in the glass.

Opened this after opening a bottle of Orphelin to do a GSM vs. MSG comparison. More fruit forward, went well with the Chicken Vesuvio I fed Charcas. Think the Owen Rowe Sinister Hand is a better value, i.e. tastes every bit as good and is 2/3 the price.

Rich grenache. Lots of smokey meat and cassis. Was a bit off balance due to the acidic finish- most likely a result of its youth. Will want to try again in 2-3 years.

A grenache, tempranillo and syrah blend. Rich purple. Some good funk going on here. Soft leather jacket, sage/dried herbs and blueberry nose with the slightest hint of ripe tomato. Sweet entry, forward, voluptious mouthfeel, more chewy than cloying, with a lot of razzberry and bluberry riding on more funky earth and animal undertones. Delicious finish. Very interesting and very good.
