Light medium red. Medium nose, earthy, menthol and cassis. Certainly not vibrant but still very nice. At first the flavours were a bit muted but they came on a bit and so did the tannins. I would buy again.

En Primeur campaign for the 2024 vintage Day Five (Bordeaux) : Low intensity aromas of a little non-delineated fruit shows a compote prettiness, not much else on the nose. In the mouth it's sour, hard with chewy tannins that are drying, tight. Not for me.

This is still drinking ok, but has gone downhill since the previous tasting in 2021. No primary fruits apparent. Earth, cedar, dried fruit. I think that this needs to be drunk up over the next year or two.

This wine had ample time to mature and become the best version of what it could potentially be. Nothing wrong with it - no flaws, but no bordeaux “wow”. Quite boring. Even carafing up to 12h did not help to bring out more. As my review is in line with most other reviews this is probably not the best vintage for Cantemerle.

This wine is not complex. But it’s a good wine for the price. Some earth and red fruit is definitely noticeable. There’s not much tannins left so I don’t see this wine improving but I think this wine could last at this stage for at least a few more years.

PnP'd one bottle (magnum) and it felt thin for the first hour. Decanted a different bottle the following day for a few hours and it showed fuller. So I do suggest a decant at this point. Surprisingly fruit-forward wine given the decade of aging. Lots of blueberry and blackcurrant. A little earth also. Aged-smoothed tannins. Long finish. A delicious well integrated wine from a difficult year.

Four years on from my last note on this wine (and my last bottle of a six pack bought on release), and somewhat amazingly a transformation has occurred and the wine seems definitely a couple of points better than before. A perfect cork opens up a wine with bright cherry on the nose along with more developed spice and just a touch of green. Overall this is a pleasantly mature Bdx offering a harmonious experience.

Tastes like a lovely Bordeaux, but with the volume turned down. Dark garnet core with a watery rim. Aromas are quite fruit forward, straddling the line between red and black. Quite nice, actually. Very tight at initial opening, Decanted 1 hour, still felt like it had more but it never really blossomed, lacked the intensity and acidity I was expecting. Definite Black Cherry, wet earth, cedar and tobacco notes but relatively thin mid-palate and beyond.

A 5th Growth Bordeaux but not a great vintage. 47% Cab Sauv, 43% Merlot, 7% Cab Franc, 3% Petit Verdot. Excellent fruit but lacking in structure and tannins and near the end of it's best drinking window. On the palate cherry and earthy notes, black fruits, and some leather.

Nose dark indigo. Nose herbal green pepper with hint of dark fruits. Palate bright, good acidity brightening dark fruits, somewhat thin mid palate with some tannins on finish. 13% abv. Surprisingly enjoyable especially with grilled meats, not sure if it has the stuffing or fruit density to live enough for the tannins to resolve but drinks better than I expected for this otherwise weak Bordeaux vintage. Attractive nose with what one expects from Cantemerle - violets, cassis & black fruits. Palate is underwhelming though. Pretty red & black fruit up front, modest tannins, and no greenness, but hollows out on the mid-palate, and not well integrated acid. Some persistence on the finish. Definitely some initial VA that blows off by hour 3, but not completely. Still, you get a decent read on Cantemerle terroir - not bad on close out for $20.

Fresh and simple. Great example of "lunch wine" except that it is bound to carry a Bordeaux price tag. Red fruit, juicy, lean, low tannin and high acid. I dig the style but I won't be buying any when I can get Cab franc like this for $12.

Clear, dark ruby red, pink rim, with microscopic thin tears. Clean, med intensity, aromas of raspberries, musty, cassis, smoky, gamey meat and forest floor. Dry, med- body, med+ tannins, med- acidity, med alcohol. Further tastes of cassis, cigar ash, forest floor, cranberries, blackberries. A short finish but nice complexity.
