Matured medium puple colour. Light sediment. Blackberries, blackcurrant, plums, some animal notes, light smokiness, vanilla, cedar. Higher tannins, good acidity. Medium finish.

Decanted and drank over two days. Let breath a couple hours before pouring. Medium body, unlike the 2010 that is a heavier wine. Mild nose of black fruit and clove. Soft in the mouth, the fruit, some brett, no secondary flavors detected. Decent with food, one-dimensional, a weekday wine.

A decidedly old school SE, perfectly melting mature red berries, noble cask aromas, club seat leather, chocolate and tobacco. Very smooth and silky. Although thinning out in the finish the bottle was a wonderful journey back to a glorious past of classical Bordeaux.

I would still see this in a pretty perfect space these days. Bottles was in pristine condition, cork not soaked at all. If anything, it gained refinement without losing power of the past years since the last bottle. So this comes velvety, jammy, with aged Bdx notes of mushrooms, forest floor and herbal notes. Also nice leather and faint cinnamon notes accompanying a very nicely balanced finish with still vibrant acidity. Good length for a surprising 12.5 ABV. For good …

Not been lucky enough to taste a haut-brion, chaval blanc or any of the first growth wines of Bordeaux but surely it can’t get much better than this ?! totally blown away by the quality of this wine on the night, and proving that wine is alive and constantly evolving and you can never right it off.. even when you think it’s done it surprises you. I opened a bottle of the 2006 only 3 years ago and and wasn’t …

Two 1999 Cortons Tasted (Yan's China Bistro, Walnut Creek, Ca.) : Nose of black berry, fragrant spring bouquet, hints of barnyard and allspice and cigar box, on the palate, big body, tasty, enjoyed over 3 nights, mouth filling fruit, at peak, drinking well, suggest you enjoy now, rich, long finish and lovely aftertaste, photo uploaded.

Enjoyed over 2 nights while tasting 6 other wines, notes posted. This wine has always been a favorite of mine since 1985. It has been merged with Chateau Tertre Daugay into Chateau Quintus in 2013 although they controlled the 2011 vintage. This bottle of 1995 shows excellent cellaring at 60 degrees F but sadly shows its age. As of today, about 230 bottles of this are listed on Cellartracker and probably should be consumed immediately IMO. Enjoy it now and …

Good but I'm not convinced it's really a '95. Unless it's been recorked within the past 5 years. Very suspicious.

This is the best showing for this wine to date. Decanted two hours. Not as great as in the best vintages but really enjoyed and seemed to have more body than bottles opened up previously.

A very nice wine. Fruit still fresh and vibrant. Tannins mellow and smooth with just a pleasnt hint of acidity and a bit of a charcoal finish. Fruit 50% orchard, 50 % berry with nothing distinctive. Nice nose over 3 hour drink period, full bodied but medium finish. I don't think this will get any better so drink up!

I enjoyed this - certainly well made and the tannins are pretty much resolved but not of any great length or depth - I am not confident it will improve but will leave my last bottle for a couple of years

Zoom tasting with the wine group - Bordeaux : Medium-deep ruby, minimal bricking; nose has an offputting aroma at first, almost a little acetone and a little skunk; palate is full bodied, youthful, but the same offputting aroma comes through on the palate as well. This seems flawed, but unclear what the flaw is… Not pleasant for me. 1 hour of air in the glass: The offputting aromas mostly blow off, but not much underneath that excites me, and still …

Plum, tootsie roll, herbs, forest floor, spices, leather, spice box; soft, caressing, pretty decent, with good age on it; nice, classic, but a little aged beyond it's years, with it being a little heavy in the brown leaves and tootsie rool. Drink up now to 5 years.

An easy afternoon with close friends (@ PdV) : Chocolate and dark berries in the bouquet. On the palate dark and red berries, some earth and green impressions, firm acidity and sticky tannin. Elegant acidity and still not really showing itself. Would like to taste again in a few years. 90 – 91

Not a bad Saturday afternoon : Celery seed and pyrazine, very savory, a rough and tumble wine that shows a lot of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc character. It had a mixed reception. I enjoyed it quite a bit, but I'm a big fan of Loire Cabernet Franc and old school Bordeaux.

Remind me not to buy en primeur unless I'm absolutely convinced... This is nothing special and does not merit gcc status. I'll drink my six bottles as 'ordinary' week day wines, and that is a pity. Nothing wrong here, just no excitement at all.

Pleasant, perfumed nose of chocolate, mint, capsicum, sweet tobacco and cedar. It is relatively gentle in the mouth with soft tannins and perfumed sweet fruit. There are plenty of cooler, green notes that add freshness to the wine.

Certainly reach its drinking plateau, this wine has not changed much over the last 2 years. Slight hint of wood but blows off quickly, wet earth, oyster shell, red/black fruits, and oak. Medium bodied with good balance, not very complex though. Enjoyable bottle.

La Commanderie de Bordeaux à Vancouver - Chateau L’Arrosee (Chambar) : This was the outlier of the flight. Black cherry nose with mint and beef broth that is quite a bit different than the 90 or 89. This was tight and quite structured and needs a good bit of time before prime time drinking. Very good. 89+
