Fruchtgetriebener Cabernet in intensivem rot.

Three hour decant back into the bottle for our dinner with Mary & Barry tonight at Trattoria Mangia here in town. Paired beautifully with my veal Marsala. There is a slight red fruited kirsch liqueur component with a creamy mouth feel and some savory characteristics as well....I wish I had a lot more of these. Absolutely beautiful.....with many years ahead.

Drank from 750. Nose was muted at first but opened up nicely. Wine opened up in the glass but had the restrained taste I associate with Fay. Fruit and tannin in a nice balance with a good finish. I had the 2013 SLV recently, also good but I think I like this a little better. No rush.

I think this had a one hour decant. Deep dark magenta color. Maraschino cherry, plum, sage, and cream soda. Smooth, dry, sage-infused palate. Firm tannins on the longish finish. This has excellent structure and has clearly aged very well. The palate is more herbal than I like, but everything else about this is great. Tasted at Vinous Icons Miami.

Encore jeune et fringant mais fort complexe. Sur les mures et les prunes avec du tabac, de la terre et de la mine de crayon. Les tannins sont charnus et la finale bien longue est fort persistante. Excellent vin en devenir.

Last bottle. :-( Perfekter Korken, gute Kondition. Hach…

Deep purple with garnet red reflexes. Intense blackberry blueberry preserve some vanilla and licorice. Full bodied with lots of ripe and soft tannins. At the beginning of its apogee. But no hurry makes pleasure for at least another decade.

Rich, dark garnet color. New leather, cassis, cherry, and hints of baking spices and anise on the nose. Developing slowly with more purple fruits; plum and blackberry. Pipe tobacco notes emerge. Luxurious tannins, maybe just past peak. The flavors follow the aromas. The finish tends towards the anise and tobacco. Fairly short. I’m glad we are drinking it now.

Note of wine after one hour in the glass. Beautiful dark ruby color with minimal bricking. Nice acidity, medium tannins, good fruit with cherries and black currants; forest floor, chocolate notes, with some emerging leather. Ending is nice and long with oak, spice, and some herbal notes. Very good wine - not as good as 1999 Dalla Valle, but I liked the mature notes that emerged with some air. The fruit is still very good, and the wine felt very …

Sample tasting at work (Oinoscent) : had a sip from a customers bottle Intoxicating fragrance, smoky, coffee noes, dark chocolate, ripe (but not jammy) fruit, black fruit, plums, prunes. Palate with power, ripe black fruit, warm but not hot (15%), full body, nice acidity here, long finish copying the flavour profile of the nose. Brilliant

Tasted blind and was ever so herby to the point Andreas called it old world Cab Franc dominated wine… young, fresh, soft and definitely made with a light hand, less of that punchy oak and albeit this clocks 15% alc still carries it very well. Young and still showing no secondary side but still performs very well and a good 92 for now and very much full of promise.

Really singing now. Decanted for 3-4 hours prior to drinking with flank steak, corn, mashed potatoes. Cherry, kirsch, cocoa nibs. The more feminine wine to the muscular SLV. I gave up my SLWC club shipments a few years ago, but this is a good reminder of what this winery is able to produce.

A deep red glass of power. Opened and carafed little over a hour before drinking. Black fruit, cherries and leather in the nose. An taste that lasts and keeps giving. Balance and power supported by solid tannins. It was a joy to drink but a shame to not save for the ages because this vintages has a lot more to give.

Big US Cab glas. 3h aerated, no decant needed. From 16-20C. Pre dinner with cheese and 17C 1h decant. Would rated 90 as it was ok, thin on backbone and acidity, but not more.. … 3h aerated, big T bone bbq, and 18-20C. A lovely one. Really good with the dark berries but not to black nor licorice. More elegant and fruity. Aerate for 3h, big glas is good, rather above 18C than below. Great With red meat. 92++

Wasn't as impressed as I was hoping. Not bad, just not meeting expectations, which were perhaps too lofty on my part. Offers cherry, dark plum, leather, grilled meat, dark chocolate and cardamom. Creamy texture, full-bodied. Cherry and chocolate on the palate, just a bit soft and out of balance with the firm chalky tannins.

Brilliant deep garnet colour. Aroma was of cedar, tobacco, cassis, and a hint of vanilla. Purple rim indicated a lot of life remaining. On the palate, a mouth punch of dark fruit, , earth, cherry, cassis, and oak tones. Unfortunately, acidity wasn't present to the extent I wished, which gave the wine a slightly unbalanced feel. Overall, a nice wine but missing one element to make it epic. Tasted more like a Bordeaux blend than a single varietal wine.

Best bottle (Weindorf Kirchheim, Waldhorn Laube) : Glass: Sophienwald Bordeaux Popped and poured. Certainly a clear step up from the Artemis. Beautiful spicy nose, pencil shavings, red fruit, very harmonious. On the palate elegant, silky texture, round, harmonious, no rough edges, but also some pressure and tension. Good length. Will continue to evolve, but I doubt that it will be really great. 92-93+
