Quinta do Vesuvio, Pombal do Vesuvio, Douro

I drank this over three days, and was initially a bit put off but can now see this for the excellent wine it is. As Shrewsam noted, it has a real fruit seed sourness - for me, exactly like biting down on a grapeseed. Notably perfumed, really wow floral work here! Power and breadth, lots of lush herbs (not cistus), violet, BASIL, really gorgeous, complex, heady, and some liquorice. Medium-bodied, with a sappy attack that sort of pinches things, a stony vein and a green streak. Fragrant throughout, lots of black pepper, violet, cistus and stones with fruit seeds on the long finish. Fine stuff.

Lovely with soft tannins. Cherry and stone. But much better wines at this price

Dark, perfumed and with plenty of black fruit. Still a little tannic. A big, robust Douro red.

A blend of Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca with a 5% addition of Tinta Amarela. Aged in mainly 2nd use oak. 13,5% alcohol. Fully opaque figgy reddish color. Very big, ripe and sweet-toned nose with aromas of Sun-Maid raisins, sweet blackberry-driven dark fruit, some red plums, a little bit of lifted floral character, light notes of wizened dark berries and a juicy hint of jammy primary fruit. A blend of Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Tinta Amarela. Purple colour with unmistakeable expressive aromas of a Douro red with ripe blueberry, cooked plums, dried herbs and sun dried undergrowth. Despite its youth, the wine has a nice balance with integrated tannins, ripe blueberry, plum and blackcurrant fruits and an earthy finish. Very enjoyable.
