Color: Dark brick red, fully opaque, almost Brunello. Nose: Bright and ripe berry-scented, with a serious sweetness that compares to that of Madeira or Port. Taste: There is considerable sweetness here, with late-season rhubarb and raspberry in abundance. And yet I wouldn't call this wine terribly fruit-forward; good acidity, Syrah pepperiness and tobacco in the finish keep things interesting.
