Spice and slight oak on this medium body wine. Nice fruit that breaks through the spice for a lingering finish. This pairs perfectly with smoked brisket

Cork had significant seepage despite being well stored. Wine did not seem corked. Mild cranberry, strawberry, and rhubarb. Smells reminiscent of a pinot. Light in the mouth, with some tannin up front, with more bright red fruit, dried herbs, trailing off into strong brambles and a bit of a unattractive, harsh finish. Not my favorite. Will see eventually if my second bottle is any better.

- Medium forming legs and aromas of tea, blackberry, black currant, cherry and vanilla. It's balanced and has flavours of cherry, blackberry and oak with a medium/full body. Smooth texture with a long finish - Decanted two hours. The wine is young and needs it. Great nose, a little light on finish.

Retail $30. Responsible bottle. 100% Tinta del País (Tempranillo). OK. Honesty: I have never been to Spain (as a wine writer) and my access to Ribero del Duoro has been limited (more or less). And that is Too. Bad. This wine is, to borrow a phrase, "amaze-balls". Dark in color and aromas with black cherry, anise, and plum at the forefront of the nose, along with tartness, clove, and, yeah, verve. Really good fruit, funk (I love the funk), and …

Nice wine. Not too powerful. But with a nice taste of black berries and a lot of liquerice.
