This had a pair amount of sediment which is unusual from this house. The nose is heady with hints of camphor, baked black cherries and pine forest floor. The palate is difficult to figure. The acid seems sour and out of place. The flavors are a bit muddled and the tannins very astringent. This needs more time in the cellar as it isn’t very expressive at this stage of its development. With expended airing, there is forest floor, pressed flowers and pine needles in the nose. Rich and full bodied, the palate is chunky and reticent. Given the chunky tannins and clipped finish, I think this simply needs another year or two to soften. Still performing well for the vintage but this time felt the candied sweeter flavours, together with a hint of prunes was starting to show the weakness of the vintage and a wine that is not improving. Drink up I suggest as past bottles were better.

Another excellent experience with this wine. Again my tried and trusted approach for warm vintages: serve on the cold side and PnP and let it develop. the dark cherry fruit is a bit candied but the sweetness is in very good balance, the finish is spices amd sandalwood but with a well aged feel. Drunk over two days, decanted. Explosive, racy, lifted nose with plenty sweet and bitter cherry, kirsch, figs, crystallised rose petal, boiled sweet, and damson jam. Well behaved on the palate, with magisterial tannins and an acidity well balanced by a precise and taut core of ripe and crystallised red fruit. Long, dry, sweet finish. Drank in NY Monvigliero hill is a single vineyard in Verduno town. The vines are 30 years of age, at an altitude of about 320 meters and faces south. Again a wonderful reserved nose of flowers, red fruit and earth. Light complex palate with a nice length. Amazing stuff

Fresh, elegant, and stony but with a wonderfully soft texture, this is really classically styled and already quite gorgeous. Check again in a dozen years. Not showing too much (or hardly any) of the ripeness of the vintage.

The nose was fresh and lifting with pretty, sweet floral notes, cherry and stony minerals. On the palate, it was ripe with silky textured, dark red fruits and herbs. Inner floral tones lasted into the finish, along with saturating red fruit, which clung to the senses.
