Riofavara, Nero d'Avola Spaccaforno, Eloro

My experience was somewhat like Mike's. The first day was more structure than fruit with a nose showing modest notes of spice cake and grilled plum and earth. The second day was sweeter with more fruit showing, but it's a simple and somewhat roasted generic melange of raspberry and plum. I probably missed this at its best but it wasn't that great to begin with.

Full ruby color with clarity. Sweet, Port-like aromas of baked cherry, root and baking spices. Full-bodied palate, with rich black cherry and plum flavors along with secondary notes of paprika, clove and tobacco pipe. Medium acid with fleshy juicy tannin. Significant improvement after 3 days under a Repour. Much fresher on the nose and palate. Gone were the sweet Port-like notes, much bright red fruit and more savory dried floral notes.

Somewhat transparent deep cherry color, floral nose, medium body, good acidity, some mineral but not a lot of fruit on the palate and finish

Candied cherry, cedar and cured meat aromas. Rather savory cranberry and plum flavors with notes of wood and cured meat. Moderate acidity.

This bottle was corked. Stale vegetables.
