Waxwing Cabernet Sauvignon Star Lane Vineyard

Decanted for 45 minutes before I tried it. Drying tannins, a lot of Syrah character to it: subtle, black fruits integrated with oak and tannins. Secondary juicy notes begin to sneak in after about 20-30 seconds on the palate. A really nice wine!

Initial flavors of red and black berries plus secondary earth and menthol notes. Very promising at first: double decanted and revisited over an afternoon/evening. Smoky, meaty flavors come through after about 15-20 minutes, which reminded me of a Syrah. After an hour this wine has kept improving, with lovely tannins and full-bodied acidity that balances out the mildly sweet mouthfeel. Tertiary notes start to emerge: black currant and elderberry.
