Freiherr Langwerth von Simmern Eltviller Sonnenberg Riesling Kabinett

I don't know Riesling well so for me this was an unusual wine. Deep yellow. Musty nose that needed to blow off. The wine needed time in the glass. Lightly sweet. Some fruit - mango, kumquat, a touch of licorice, petrol notes, beeswax. Will be interesting to see how the other bottles show.

Yellow gold with some orange tinge in the glass. Expansive nose of ethanol, whiffs of chlorine, big apricot, whipped honey, and pears. Nice and dry on palate, sugar levels are in an agreeable place. Deep and rich but still drier than it is sweet. Medium acid, medium finish too. Grapefruit and orange zest. Clean but also a little creamy. Really special.
