Vacation wines; 10/18/2025-10/25/2025 (Hotel Sonne, Partschins, IT) : *** AI generated text based on my WSET style short tasting notes *** Tasted from a 0.75 liter bottle of the 1990 Karthäuserberg Auslese #23 by Weingut Karthäuserhof, this Riesling presents a clear, medium intensity white appearance with a rather youthful gold hue. On the nose, the wine is clean and developing, offering medium intensity aromas of cassis, elder, honey, spices, and wet stone. The bouquet is notably complex, deep, dense, and …

High-end mature Riesling #2 (Restaurant Brunnenstube, Beinstein) : Glass: Schott Zwiesel Definition Universal Bottle opened about 3-5h before tasting, not decanted. Quite advanced bottle. Still very good with clear Ruwer personality, but not super exciting and lacking brilliance and complexity. 89-90

Last of 12, pnp, perfect level, fully stained cork, little changed from last bottle noted in detail in 2019 and held up superbly on 2nd night, no upside now, but no rush. VF (18.5) and took more than 20 years to show of its best!

11th of 12, pnp, perfect level, fully travelled cork, some seepage evident, previous notes since late 90s fine or better with most recent in 13 very fine - light gold; fresh and complex bouquet, white peach, mango, nice citric cut, decent minerality, even hint of kerosene; light/medium, outstanding length, persistence, intensity and tension, still fresh and pure with fine energy to the fruit, no rush. VF (18.5)…...for many years this wine was a tad angular and over acid though it …

Algae, sea breeze, smokey minerals, pennyroyal, elderflower, mangosteen, sweet white grapefruit, white peach, fresh crisp apricot, touch of exotic spiciness. Simply gorgeous nose. Delicate and tasting almost dry. Long and precise. Finishes pure and airy, with a sneaky intensity. Very complex but never aggressive or very obvious. Unique finish of citrus, cucumber, apricot and elderflower. So (so) good. Very Ruwer. Very memorable. Very much want to try this again.

My notes suck... out of a mag... very fresh and well integrated. lots of apple an d stone fruit. did not stand out as having particular range or depth but sure was tasty. Also what stood out to me was that in this format it would last a while though wasn't sure you would get much more progress from it.

Golden. Citrus, oranges, lime, candied fruits, wet stone, petrol, herbs and slate. The sweetness is almost fully integrated and there is enough acidity of course to provide poise and freshness. If it would provide a bit more depth and would be a bit longer on the palate, it would deserve a outstanding or even extraordinary score. After more than 25 years under perfect conditions this bottles cork was soaked and a bit leaking with a mouldy substance between cork and …

I think this was another one of Justin C's bottles. Nose of crisp passion fruit, herbal, spicy, grapefruit, petrol. Great cut. Very 90. Good acid on the palate with apple, pear, minerals and grapefruit. Long. Nose - 5/6, Palate - 5.5/6, Finish - 5.5/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1.5/2 = 17.5/20.

AP #12. Brought by Justin and Danielle. NB - this note is based on memory and not written notes. Light yellow-gold color. Creamy and mature on the nose, with significant petrol, creamy citrus-lime, and slate. Very elegant and refined on the palate. Much softer than I expected. This wine doesn't have the visible vibrant acidity that I expect and often crave from the 90's, but is a beauty in its own right. Similar flavors to those in the nose show …
