Mostly Burgundy Tasted at Charity BYO (Verve Wine - Chicago IL) : Small glass, brief note. Still at that awkward place like too many 2005s. I can see the path to this wine reaching its potential, it just isn't in the very near-term. Lots to appreciate, even if not quite yet to enjoy.

Nez : sous-bois, tabac, vieux cuir, anis, fruits noirs...même un soupçon d'encre. Souple, sec, corsé, fruité, ample et structuré avec des tannins fins. Longue finale savoureuse. Prêt à boire mais peu se garder encore quelques années. Délicieux !

a very pretty red burg; we had this next to a littorai Hirsch, which was also very enjoyable. this was darker fruit with some barnyard funk and incredibly smooth; WOTN for us at a fun dinner at Osito in SF

Very new world to me. Very dark red color. Nose opens over time to some cranberry. The body is intense tart cranberry. Finish is long. The acidity keeps the fresh and belies its 16 years of age. Perhaps with an hour or two more of decanting this would open more. Very good but not very Burgundian to me.

Clos Vougeot (Chambolle/ Northside) Tasting (Chicagoland IL) : Huge and powerful black and red cherry with roasted meat. Clearly lots here, but still very firm and backward, even 10 hours after it was opened. Enjoyable now, I am very optimistic here, but will not want to try this again for at least 5 more years. Probably better 2030 forward.

Clos Vougeot - Northside / Chambolle-side Tasting (Chicago) : 90/05 pair. A brooding and unready wine. Lots of youthful, powerful rich black cherry and not much else at this stage. Hold for another 10 years.

Dégustation Bourgogne et Bordeaux 2005 (Restaurant Chez Christophe) : Un nez discret, boisé, vraiment peu expressif, avec quelques notes de petits fruits rouges. Une bouche de corps moyen, avec de beaux tanins fins en finale, encore un peu boisé, bonne fraicheur et texture agréable. Minéral, bonne fermeté, c'est fermé, plutôt moderne. Difficile de prédire comme cet élevage s'intègrera, mais l'équilibre structurel est bon. 92 (+) pts

Way way young. Comes across as new world style, lots of chocolate and jammy fruit, not very elegant. Maybe this will get better in time, or perhaps it's just not my style.
