During an Italian walkabout tasting, so only short impressions. Gaglioppo grape varietal. Starts easy oaky on the palate, international style with dark fruit and polished tannins. Devoid of any place, could be from anywhere. A correctly made commercial wine for the supermarket.

OK for $18 CAD, but I don't see how this got 3 glasses from Gambero Rosso.

Enjoyed this. This comes off as on the lighter side with good acidity and minerality, but also some dark fruit, herb, funkiness. New grape for me, but fits into my 'Italian wine' category well.

100% Gaglioppo aged in steel and concrete, the medium-high intensity nose offers complex ripe black and dark red cherries and spices joined by some funky earthy, rustic, and touch minerally aromas, along with some baking spice, plum, and candied cherry notes that arrive with time in the glass. It's medium+ bodied with attractive black cherry, spice, and plum flavours that are supported by fresh, balanced acidity. Smooth, fine tannins have a slightly grainy & chalky texture on the mid-palate. Juicy …

Lighter in colour than I was expecting. I basically agree with previous tasting notes, even if the awarded scores are differing a bit. This wine is indeed very well balanced, clean and bright, but does lack some character and therefore identity. Red berries and a touch of wet forest floor are the main components. Still it does remain rather primary on the palate, but one cannot deny the very pleasant and sapid concentration.

+ clean orderly weight good acidity (and thereby balance), especially from a southern Italian - Lack of character, structure & sophistication. Summary: classic 86p, also classic 10 EUR quality, and incidentally it does cost 10 EUR, translating to average QPR.

drank with val, bob (jahlove) and selma at dino's in dc and i loved it. val and i liked it more than bob, but, oh well, jahlove has his weaknesses. nose showed some funk at the start, but that blew off quickly. the color was lighter purple than i remember it. two years of age has really smoothed this baby out. smoke on the nose, with rich cherries. full-bodied with strong, grippy tannins. the fruit is plush, but by no …

Translucent red. Strawberries and cherries on the nose. Also some smoky/charcoaly herbal notes (such as cow parsley). Medium bodied wine with good acidity and low tannins. Smooth and decent structure. Sweet strawberry and toffee notes. Slight meatiness and decent lenght. According to the winery this should last for some years to come but I can't see that judging by this bottle. I think this is past it's prime.

This was a nice light wine with just enough umph. Translucent maroon color. On the palate it's fresh with some coarse tobacco flavors and a bit of strawberry. I think that I could easily think this was Rosé wine if I couldn't see its color. Somewhat short finish.
