Fantastic Pinot

Light medium garnet in color. Nose of bing cherry, mascerated cherry, volcanic soil, dried mushroom, and dried cranberry. Body is medium, medium minus acid, dry, medium alcohol, medium plus finish. Flavors of roasted bing cherry, subtle smoked leather, charred raspberry, decayed forrest floor, and volcanic minerality. Great wine and could age for another 10+ years.

Tasted at Nicolas-Jay winery. This wine is just wonderfully elegant and balanced with great structure for aging, both acidity and some dusty tannins playing on your tongue. Some oak is noticeable but in a good way, black cherry, pomegranate, and black tea are notable in the nose and the palate. Nice texture overall and a wine that will age marvelously and also probably drink well with a long decant in its more relative youth. Appropriately this wine is the Estate …
