Nose of plum, red cherry, and hints of allspice, same on the palate, very tasty, big body, lovely compared to competition tonight, medium finish hurt score, otherwise terrific Merlot.

Beautiful dark garnet color; dark red fruit (plums) on the nose and palate; nice balance; enjoyable.

Rusty ruby. Rasinated aroma travels at least a foot from the glass. We let it settle down for 2 hours, but this is way past prime. Intense plum and casis, but a short bitter finish. Wish I tried it 10 years ago.

Light ruby. Herbal with an elegant feel upon entry with adequate ripeness of fruit, but a stiffer, less pliant fennel and pepper finish.

Wonderful immediately after opening, then closed up about 30 minutes later (bright cherry finish!). Tried it again an hour or so later and it had opened up again, but this time it was drinking remarkably differently. Overall enjoyable, except for the 30-90 minute period :-)

Completely one dimensional at first but opened up complex and delicious, particularly day 2

This was very disappointing. It had little fruit and a tired somewhat off taste. I have one more bottle, so I'm hoping this was just an aberration.

Soft tannins, easy to drink without food, but generally unremarkable.

Man did this bottle hit the spot last night. This has been a favorite of ours since the 98 vintage. Wonderful perfume nose with a bit of graphite. The finish is what we really like about this wine. It hits the front palate with nice dark berries then continues all the way, adding some subtle spice and mellow tannins. This went way too fast and we opened a $20 Napa Cab afterward that could not compare. It tasted mass produced …

This was drinking well last night. A nice floral nose mixed with dark fruit. The soft Merlot tannins. Always one of our "go-to" wines.

There was an off taste to this bottle and it is a wine we have had regularly since 1998.

I decanted this wine about 5 1/2 hours. The nose begins with an enticing mix of raspberry and chocolate covered cherries, which slowly fades into baking spice, and finally turns to an asparagus and broccoli medley. The palate has a nice balance between red fruit and green vegetables, and finishes with a little spicy oak.

We have had this wine regularly since the 98 vintage and it has consistently brought a smile to our faces. Always deep and rich, with nice layers of fruit and soft tannins.

Very nice classic merlot flavors. Deep red - not at all like the purple petite sirah I had last night. Some complexity and finish, but not great. Nice overall.

Truly enjoyed - Bright and somewhat acidic but integrated. Plenty of fruit on the front end and at under $25 a good value.

89 - Excellent Merlot - fruit forward with good backbone and acidity. A bright, but long finish. Well balanced & food friendly. Should drink well for several more years.

I'm a big Clos Pegase Cabernet fan. This is the first time I've tasted Clos Pegase Merlot. I was very pleased with this Merlot (BevMo $16). For a Merlot, this wine has some nice structure. Tannic, acidic flavor. Fruit-forward. Nice finish.
