Deep ruby. Long, viscous legs. Nose of iron, cool wet stones, spice box, sweet persimmon. Very drinkable with streamlined tannins. Vanilla, dark chocolate, orange peel across the palate. Lovely wine.

Drank at dinner at Amici Miei in Montogmery County MD. Very nice wine. We picked it up at the winery in 2010 and this is the third bottle I have consumed. Meaty wine, nice acidity without being hot. Still has a lot of fruit, dried plum and raisin, with firm but smooth tannins. Went very well with the rabbit I had for dinner.

Initially very sirupy and jammy with overripe blueberry, dark raspbery and strawberry. On day two and after beeing served slightly chilled, components are more in balance but it remains one dimensional new world(ish) syrah profile lacking acidity and complexity. Disappointing showing given my earlier impressions from this cuvee.

Drank at a restaurant in PHX for $60. Always good to try a wine with a little age on it. A big wine but just enough fruit. Some spiciness from the Syrah. I understand that this is a top producer and that this wine comes from a Brunello region. Drank with pork chop and Italian appetizers. Group enjoyed the bottle. Would drink again.

it has the makings of a very good find (especially at half price!) but having had several bottles that are fairly rated at 92 pts or higher, this one does not fit in with such an illustrious crowd. For a bottle that is supposed to fetch a cool $50, I'd be furious if I had paid as much for such mediocrity. Good on the nose, very slow legs... it just lacks a decent finish.

Intense, dark. Ripe dark fruit, herbs, undergrowth, black pepper on the nose. Palate is explosive with warm dark cherry, spices, peper, and herbal notes. Solid structure, great balance and length. Finishing long and complex with delicate sweet tannins. Despite the intensity here, freshness is ample and the wine is never heavy.

Tried it at a Super Tuscan Tasting. This was the only 100% Syrah offering. Very ripe and international in style. Enjoyable, but lacking in structure, complexity and typicity. Still, the price seems reasonable for such a top producer and quality appellation. It would be interesting to try this blind next to a similarly-priced Barossa Shiraz, a northern Cotes du Rhone and a Syrah from Sonoma or Oregon and see which comes out on top.

Nice balanced Syrah....certainly nothing special and barely worth the 18 I spent on it. A little more delicate than Languedoc but also a little less interesting. Nose was unspectacular and the finish was short. This wine was preceded by a bottle of three day old Jacob's Creek Cab/Shiraz (at a friend's house) and the transition was seemless. Not a good sign.

Wow, what a wine!! Brought home from the Ciacci vineyard. This is a fascinating wine as it is 100% Syrah (rather rare for Montalcino) but clearly portrays the unique terrior of the region.
