This pours medium garnet in the glass with light bricking. The nose is just lovely showing decaying wood, woodsy undergrowth, ripe dark fruit, a touch of prune, and herbs de provence. The palate enters on deep and rich fruit with medium tannin and medium minus acid. The finish shows quite a lot of that very ripe and dark fruit. All in all, this showed nicely. I recon about as well as you could hope for this bottle. There is lovely …

A bit over the hill, but enjoyable after 2 hour decant.

Drunk with Diane, Ray, Marianne. Recently purchased on the secondary market, this was far better than expected. No sediment in the bottle. Long and smooth, yet showing warm dried fruit, earth, anise. On the dry side with smooth tannins. This didn't fall off a cliff but I don't see it getting better either. Me - 91/92, Wife - 90/91

Still an interesting wine, showing notes of damp earth, tiny black currants, cocoapowder, brown spices and gingerbread. Of course, this wine is getting leaner, but there is still good balance and freshness and I think it's surprisingly vivid and charmingly elegant for it's age, possibly due to a good a splash of refreshing acidity. A nice surprise.

My one and only bottle. Opens with a nose of funk and animal notes. Very dark in color compared to the 1999 Font de Michelle. Tight, well knit structure, upright. Dark red fruit. Perhaps a bit extracted. Got better and better in the glass though.

Slightly muted fruit, but overall nice. Touch of funkiness but not offputting.

A complicated wine. Szechuan pepper on the nose. Earthy, sandalwood, leather taste, slight floral finish.

This keeps giving the love; Mature and still exhibiting a core of dark red fruit. Clean with no traces of funk or bret. but there is some nice notes of Garrigue and a beautifully integrated softness and a smooth satisfying finish. As good as it has ever been if not even better. (short decant very little sediment).

Matured but not over the hill. Rhone earthiness and well balanced.

Popped, Vinturied, and poured. Violets, raspberries, garrigue, leather on the nose. Raspberry and sour cherry midpalate--very good but not overly complex. Well balanced fine tannin structure. I really enjoyed this but I do not think it will improve.

Very good colour for 11 year old wine, a little bit of brick starting to appear. Leathery nose, lots of tannin, but fine grained and nicely balanced by acid. Quite long and still tightly focused. Excellent wine, still got a long way to go but drinking very well. Highly recommended!

Popped and poured through a vinturi. On the nose there is a lot going on - scents of big jammy raspberries, dark cherries, underbrush, hay, raisins, rhubarb and burnt earth. Less expressive on the palate with raspberries, sour cherries and it goes a little hollow on the mid palate followed by stewed dark plums and dry dustiness on a long finish. Medium to full bodied. A little less expressive than the last bottle but may open up with a little …

Still have 3 more of these and no rush to drink them. Splash decant and poured right away. Best bottle so far and I think will last several more years. Nice balance to this wine right now; still deep red in the glass and fresh berries on the nose giving way to the earthy Rhone tones. Tannins have softened a lot since the last bottle a couple of years ago. Great stuff!!

Another fine bottle at Cabin. Splash decant -showing nice secondary softness and great balance -at 10 years old this is really beautiful -should drink well here for several more years.

Very good indeed. Still have a lot of potential, if not young. Also drank a Montirius Vacqueyras Le Clos 1999 this evening. Gigondas was quite better. Dark deep red. Still takes a little while to open. Leather, plums and strong tannins (still!). A bit spicy. Crushed and candied dark berries, like a chutney. Not a very long finish, but a lasting very nice after taste. Happy to have two cases left. Drink the Vacqueyras and spare this one.

Very nice Rhone that is delicious now but in my view has lots of stuffing left. Still a vibrant, juicy core of fruit surrounded by Rhone herb, earthiness and leather notes. Last bottle, but wish I had a few more to open over the next few years.

Medium-ruby colour. Huge nose of kirsch, garrigue, raspberry, alcohol, currant, wild strawberry, animal/fur. Medium-full bodied, a little restrained on the palate but showing some red fruit, garrigue. Short finish, ~15-20s. Better on the nose than the palate right now. Hopefully my last bottle shows better.

Sehr guter Wein. Noch genug Lager- und Reifepotential.

Rhone and the South (Cathy and Adrien's, Marly le Rois) : Very heavy taste, serious wine, earthy and tarry, described as cheesy or having a burnt plastic taste... Biodynamic

Nice dark red color. Nose was candied red fruits. Not much secondary character showing. Still plenty of stuffing/tanin left. Finish was moderate but nothing to write home about. My last bottle. Good but not great. Left in the refrigerator I'll try another glass in a day.
