Started out with strong medicinal tones, reminding me of my last shot of Nyquil. I was concerned that this bottle was dead, several years past its peak. However, it opened up over the course of a couple of hours, and revealed a nice fruit combination of blueberry and raspberry jam slathered on a hunk of chocolate. Probably has lost some of its luster, but it was drinking nicely enough for a Wednesday night with leftover Chinese food. Wouldn't want to …

Purplish color, with blue and black fruit tones coming up from the glass. This Syrah started awkwardly with a cough syrupy character. The front end provided decent examples of blueberry pie and sweet wild berry with raspberry and huckleberry lingering underneath. This wine improved on the second day with the cold medicine blowing off and interesting notes of underbrush, and morel mushroom developed on a drying, but fully integrated finish. This 2002 varietal held up much better than some of …

lovely ruby red color. started out with some bite and tightness. strong acid and even some dustiness and earth. after some time opening up, it smoothed out a bit more quite nicely. some light fruit on the nose accompanied with just a little earthiness. taste like unripe blackberries and maybe acai, with some pepper in the back. drank it over a day and enjoyed it a lot. it paired quite nicely with a milk chocolate and nuts candy. overall, maybe …

creme de cassis, bacon fat, flowers, blueberry and olive. The aromatics kept oscillating between oak dominated new world fragrances and hermitage-esque syrah tones. Pure silk on the palate with crushed flowers, pure red raspberry, creme de cassis and vanilla. Great length and vibrant red fruit.

Vin ayant atteint ou même légèrement dépassé son apogée ... un doux mélange de chocolat et fruits ... que nous avons dégusté avec des pâtes aux olives noires ... Je rachèterais ce produit sans aucune hésitation ...

Dark fruit with blueberry and chocolate on the nose. Blackberry and cassis finishing with faint dark chocolate. Tasted better first night. Drinking well probably not getting any better.

At first, nice cocoa and chocolate flavor, after being open a short time just an average nondescript fruit flavor. The body was watery. No real rough edges or anything off-putting, just weak in flavor and texture. 79 as in "Average". Not bad, but I can't say it was good either.

Writing from memory. Purchased thru the winery's library. Wonderful nose of dark fruits that stayed throughout the great meal (at Villa Creek ) in Paso. Nice n' easy drinking, good dark fruit that opened up some after a little air, Great mouth feel, velvety tannins, nice finish that lingered, was still tasty the following night for a splash w/family... I thought this wine had great balance, no heat. I would call it a new world-friendly wine. Hope my new vintages …

Deep ruby/garnet, slightly lighter red at the rim. Black cherry, leather, and a hint of tobacco on the nose. Balanced fruit, medium body and good tannins on the finish. A nice, CA syrah, not new world, not old world, but a good balance of both.

Bright nose of strawberries. Very light for a syrah. Strawberries and red fruits. Minimal structure. Rather round but not big & full. A little granite and a tiny touch of white pepper. Simple but nice and a touch thin for a syrah. Drink now.

Explosive nose of creme de cassis...Arpy would love this...soft creamy, juicy palate; not overly complex but who cares, this is very tasty and very easy drinking; no sense in cellaring 'cause I doubt it'll get any better.

All the other reviews sum this one up. Really good Syrah, decanted for 1 hour so the heat blew off and showed a nice dryness and structure, glad to see it was not overly fruity

I was very impressed by this wine. It started out very hot, so let it sit in your glass for about 15+ minutes (or decant). I wasn't expecting much from this but it surprised me by being nearly full-bodied. I forget how much this was through their wine club, but I would consider ordering more or buying off the shelf. Enjoy!

A very nice Syrah. Not overpowering, but good body and a nice rounded finish. Much better than expected.

Very solid syrah and better second night. Full bodied, round, mouth filling. Bacon fat, fruit, spice. Very good.

($24) Not bad - rather Australian in style, but with slightly more earth and pepper than many Aussies. The nose shows creamy oak tinged with vanilla along with a earth, and a little olive and pepper, more subtly. Rich mouthfeel. Overall, I would not have guessed that this cost more than $20, but I think it does. The second day, this wine had changed considerably. From the apricot flavors on the nose, I would guess this was cofermented with some …

Tasted at the winery. This 100% Syrah bottling shows a deep-to-opaque ruby robe with red rim. Clean but somewhat muted nose of vanilla and black cherry. Full-bodied on the palate, with low-to-medium acidity, ample but slightly coarse tannins and similar one-dimensional flavors as for the nose. Medium, somewhat dry finish. Technically correct but uninspiring.
