Perhaps there are those who enjoy this style of PN. I'm just not one of them.

Great nose showing red fruit, along with exotic spices, earthiness, tobacco and leather. Palate is medium-bodied, tannins have smoothened. Overal the palate shows less intensity than the nose, but it is remarkably fresh and still fruity. Very good.

PN around the World (Vila Viniteca - Madrid) : Absolutely reduced on the nose initially. With some air elegant notes of shoe cleaner emerge. Its evolution went to fresh tobacco leave. Palate, dammed vintage, is quite shortie and without any length. Pitiful. I always liked this natural producer who is adding pinot Gris from time to time. Totalmente reducida en nariz en el inicio. Elegantes notas a limpiabotas al orearse. Continúa su evolución con aromas a hojas de tabaco frescas. …

Rather thin, short and tannic. Among the rich Oregon pinots in the tasting this was disappointing, but maybe a palate recalibration is in order. Are there subtleties here that I don't detect?

The wines of Domaine Marcel Deiss (E&R Wine Shop, Portland OR) : Mostly Pinot Noir, but 5% Pinot Beurot. This offers more earth and spice than the standard Rouge. Deeper and thicker aromas, nearly heavy in depth but still offering balance. Thicker palate with a candied notion of ripe fruit. Some tannins coming in, but pretty soft and balanced. Dial up of funk on the finish with spice and lots of acid here, more so than the palate. Pretty tart …

Slightly dusty, red colour. The producer says the dusty appearance is due to non-filtration. The nose has an amazing Burgundian style reminding of a racy Beaune 1er Cru, with seductive and complex raspberry and blackberry, spices such as clove and ginger, and smoke. On the palate, the wine is still pretty tannic and requires either a good decant or a couple of more years cellaring. Not ready to drink yet according to the producer, can age 10 more years at …

Very interesting wine. On the nose, a touch of barnyard and earthiness that might of off-putting for a lot people. Medium+ bodied. Medium+ to high acidity. Concentrated, with some dried fruit notes, e.g. dried strawberry, sour cherry, etc. Well-integrated, velvety tannins. Slight opaque. Meant to consume with food.

Light color, tight intense nose of dirt, very bright tight intense on palate, structured and acidic, very lean. Good versatile food wine.
