Georg Breuer, Brut Riesling, Rheingau

The sparkler to see in the New Year. Yellow. Fine bead. Doesn't nose like the varietal, with only a vague sense of yellowish fruit. But whatever the shortcomings of the nose, the palate is lovely. Lightish body. Round and gentle, yet with crisp green apple acid. Long, too. On the next day, with two glasses remaining, it was still petillant and holding well. Very good sekt.

Très pur, acidité maîtrisée, bulle fine et douce.

Creamy, ripe peach, minerality, slightly coarse bubbles, juicy, spicy, a complete Riesling, what's the point of the mousse?

A very nice dry Riesling, with apricots and some petroleum.

Very pale green color. The nose has citric fruit, and minerals. The palate is somewhat rich, but not as mouthwatering and juicy as other 2006 offerings from the Rheingau. Medium finish with with citrus zest, almonds and wet stones. Drink from now until 2012.

(12.5% vol) Straw colour; no formal notes on Day 1 (did open up after about 30 minutes and was very enjoyable). The wine did hold its own when consumed with an Asia leaning fish dish which included lime, ginger, and a Thai spice blend. On Day 2 there were minerals and orange peel notes detectable on both the nose and the finish.
