Domaine Ostertag Pinot

Rather deeply colored for an Alsatian "Pinot". Since it's a blend of Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris , the color could have come from the latter, or perhaps because it was aged sur lie in old 228 L oak barrels for 9 months. The nose is rather reticent at first, but it opens to reveal a fragrant (what I call) "fleshy" character of Pinot Blanc. Citrusy entry, then the Pinot Gris begins to assert itself.
