(A) George must have had something special on his hands in 01. The nose is incredibly, cool mineral element backing up rich fruit and green pepper. Wonderful liquor and baking spice element on the palate. Fruit is more of a mixed element rather than the most prominent feature, which adds complexity to the secondary elements. Against all odds, it's only getting better. Drink now, or ... GASP ... hold?

Winery Tastings, Napa, May 2012; 5/17/2012-5/20/2012 (Coombsville, Howell Mountain, Moss Creek, Calistoga, Spring Mountain, Rutherford, Pritchard Hill) : (A) Still full and ripe. Wonderful liquor element and baking spices. Incredibly smooth. Very intriguing example of mid-aged zinfandel.

Winery Tastings, October 2010; 10/22/2010-10/25/2010 (Mt. Veeder, Oakville, Spring Mountain, St. Helena, Calistoga, Napa) : Not your typical Zin. This is thick, syrupy, and drinking wonderfully. Raisiny and pruney, in the good way. The spice isn't your typically zin pepper, but sweet spices, and only in the background.
