Light cherry, some light vanilla/oak - it’s a half way house between a light PN and a full bodied Cab in the way it drinks. Complex yet delicate, medium tannins. Definitely Zin heavy - slightly sweet fruit forward. It’s nice, would go again.

Surprisingly taut, with crunchy notes of black raspberry and tart cherry leading the way. Plenty of bramble here too, with modest tannins leaning in on the medium finish. Nice QPR, as expected.

deep ruby colour. quasi-pronounced aromas and flavours of ripe red berry, wild blackberry, vanilla-infused mulberry, with gentle herbal and floral lift. dry, with plus body, plus ripe tannins, and plus acidity. fresh, juicy and largely primary in mouth with subtle complexity at this stage. very good length. drink now for primary juiciness, or hold for three plus years for tertiaries to develop and add some complexity. 14.1% AbV; blend of 65% Zinfandel/ 26% Petit Sirah/ 5% Syrah/ 4% Alicante Bouschet; …

Medium(+) intensity aromas of cherry cola, blackberries, cedar, and vanilla. Medium bodied with medium acidity and tannin and high (14.1%) alcohol. The palate has warm flavors of blackberries, plums, raspberries, and black pepper without getting jammy. It has power, but retains elegance. Good QPR. More excellent wine at great value from Ridge. 65% Zinfandel, 26% Petite Sirah, 5% Syrah, 4% Alicante Bouschet

Paired with a brisket, very fruit forward and juicy. Mostly Zinfandel, and petit Syrah, nice and dry with a full body finish. Great food wine.

Medium ruby with purplish core. Black cherry, blueberry, elderberry, rose, white pepper, mint, and pencil lead - still quite youthful on the nose. Dry with high acidity and ripe, slightly grippy tannins. Medium+ body and pronounced dark fruit flavors with a long, peppery finish.

PnP’d. Grape juice upon opening. Thin, disappointing. Put cork back in and left on counter overnight: richer, fuller-bodied, flavorful.

Dark garnet with clear ruby edges. Aromatics of black cherry & plum, with pressed lavender, allspice, black pepper, thyme and black tea. Bright & cool-toned fruit on the palate, fresh blackberry & plum, with fresh red floral, clove, anise, and hints of vanilla. Medium bodied, refined on the palate with rounded density, juicy acidity, and smooth, medium tannins finishing with medium length of black fruit zest.

Plum and cherry on the nose. Cherry, strawberry, cola, plum, dry wood, solid tannins breaking the sweet initial hit along with a very light savory smoke bringing some balance. Big enough to stand up to beef. Hints and some herbalness that doesn’t quite break past the cherry & cola. The fruit and cola stand apart a bit not fully integrating. Overall nice, no bad bits a good amount to like flavors could meld / compliment each other more. Paired very …

Raspberry front, medium noted core with slight stemminess and spice, finish is on a lick of acidity. Compared with other wines you can find for ~$25 at a Target or Kroger this is a notch above.

another restaurant buy, once I tired of picking over priced California cabs the previous few nights. This is a very tasty blend of Zinfandel. petite sirah and syrah (plus a splash of alicante bouschet). No formal notes, but an easy drinker and a good party wine, especially alongside grilled meat or BBQ

c$30 Wholefoods; abv 14.2%; 65% Zin/26% Petite Sirah/ 5% Syrah/4% Alicante Bouschet Layered flavours of sweet briar fruit laced with spice and shot through with a pleasing acidic streak, underpinned with tannins. Warm, rich and complex, this was very nicely judged. CHP 91 pts

Dark ripe berries, plum skin, cinnamon, and vanilla bean. Full bodied with well managed tannins and proper acidity, but the alcohol pokes out a bit. A well made and well priced wine that serves as a good introduction to Zinfandel.

Ridge’s entry level zin shows the quality of their wine making yet comes across as a bit simple compared to their single vineyard offerings. The nose offers a somewhat jammy profile of crushed blackberries and raspberries which are accented with moderate tannins and a bit of malolactic creaminess across the palate.
