I had a backup, because Piuze is not immune to the pox, but not needed. Rich pear and orange fruit, candlewax, flint. With air a little almondy note but no oxidation. Long and likeable. B+/A-

Easily best Piuze Chablis I´ve ever had. In the drinking window right now but will develop for years. Blind I am not sure I would have ended up in Chablis but maybe more south. However, stellar wine with all the bits from burgundy grand cru in place.

Profil oxydatif et vieillot sans être oxydé, fruits jaunes, miel, tension en retrait, aucunement typé Chablisien, pas mon style. Not my style, oxydative profile without being premox I think, felt like a wine pasted his prime, not Chablis like at all.

Unfortunately this bottle seem much less structured and pleasing than the first one. Quite acidic and flat. Maybe slightly flawed.

I fully agree with the last note. Well structured, good acidity, hint if butter, but also citric fruit.

Good pale gold color. Tropical fruit notes and some butter on the nose. Really pops. Drinking really well. Nice acidity. Lime notes, definitely oak there but well done. Maybe a little more modern than traditional Chablis but very nice. Seems to have plenty of life left.

This is underwhelming. It is pure in its Chablis character but lacking the definition and length one should get from a great Grand cru site like this. It isn’t helped by the overall softness of ‘12 vintage and a touch too much wood still showing.

Stone fruit combined with a nice vein of minerality sails across the palate in fine fashion. The use of oak is distinct without going too far. Good complexity and depth. I think this wine may improve over the next two or three years if the last glass is any indication. Good juice!

Somewhat of a muted Chablis on the nose, but clearly on the palate. God acidity, stone citrus fruit and minerality are well integrated here. Great texture and depth. This will continue to evolve over the next two to three years. Great expression of terrior.

Medium yellow. Toasty oak and hints of advancement at first, although this freshened up and was definitely not oxidized. Right out of the gate, it reminded me of Raveneau-a bit of hazelnut, rich citrus, a whiff of sea breeze, and glorious creamy texture. Lots to like, but as it aerated, the wood began to take over, leaving all of the other positive elements in the dust and making it somewhat dull, particularly given the broader, lower acidity style of the …

Simple lemon, underripe peach and tangerine flavors. Very subdued, with little underlying energy. A stony talc note on the finish. Not the most exciting GC Chablis...

Don't know what happened here but far cry from previous experience. Muted fruit, alarming low acidity and absence of energy made this a pretty unflattering experience this time around.

I have to agree with some of the recent reviews here regarding the Grand Cru quality of this offering. Opened for 1 hr and then recorked to transport to a local seafood BYOB in a chill sleeve. At the restaurant the nose exhibited faint notes of lemon oil, matchstick, underripe pineapple, and lime essence. On the palate there were medium tastes of lemon, ginger, and some prominent oak elements reminiscent of a village Puligny or mid level RRV Chardonnay. Where …

Young Guns of Chablis (Arlequin Wines, San Francisco) : Yellow. A whiff of sulfur and lemon oil. Quite viscous and unusually leesy for Chablis. Good iodine and saline components but lowish acidity. Round and very good amplitude, but much too woody for my taste.

Clear; pale lemon in color, exhibiting developing aromas of white flowers, lemon, peach, apricot and nectarine. Dry, full bodied with unbelievable depth; a wonderful interplay of luxuriant softly textured fruit, salty sea-spray and chalky minerality are presented that induce a non-stop mouthwatering effect that results in a gloriously long interwoven finish. This is flat-out fabulous!

A Tasting of 2012 Patrick Piuze Chablis : Slightly deeper light gold again. The best bouquet of the five wines. Aromatic complexity including aromas of small white flowers, seashells, citrus, minerals and baking spices. On the palate, the Grand Cru shows refinement, elegance and complexity but, for me, not the dry extract, fruit weight, power or acid structure of the Montee de Tonnerre. The acids are in good balance however with flavours of calcified seashells, citrus tending limes, white orchard …
