Still has something to give, but sufficiently past its prime so that it's more interesting as a look at how Brooks Pinot ages than something that gives much pleasure on its own. On the darker side of the Pinot spectrum, showing lots earth and tobacco, but the faded fruit is by no means entirely gone. Medium to light body.

Needed a 2 hour decant at least as the nose had a real alcohol twinge that I found unsettling at the start - after it opened up, big and rich on the palette, dark berry flavors, short finish, but nothing really distinctive as a take-away - on reflection, probably past it's prime

Dark, relatively brooding with good depth. On the nose, a nice earthy funk with a balanced sweet undercurrent. Medium to medium-heavy body. Seems to be in a very good place right now.

Nice jammy ripe red fruits typical of Oregon warmer 06 vintage. Good wine withvegigies and olives pasta with a hint of sweetness to the typical Oregon forest funk. More fruit weighted, again most likely vintage driven. Not my preferred Oregon Pinot style but nice balance of fruit, tannin, acid and herbs but the terroir and sense of place a backdrop.

Good ripeness on the fruit and a nicely spiced finish. A longer finish would have bumped the rating.

Soft and herbal, not much fruit or finish. Past prime perhaps?

Bigger Fruits reflective of the vintage but well made in a grander style for Brooks. Drank over 3 evenings and very complex on day 3 with more woodsy feel and tannins calmed down as well as the bigness of the fruit. Not a fruit bomb by any means, and a long decant may create a better stage for this solid value OR Pinot.

Great OR Pinot. Soft and balanced without too much fruit or alcohol

Served as guests arrived for Thanksgiving dinner. My guests liked this wine but it would rank low in the pecking order of wines served. Solid but not memorable.

Light, clear red in color with a pleasant nose of strawberry, cherry and spice. Primary flavors of cherry and spice, but no pinot noir funk or earthiness anywhere. Still, a pleasant wine that can be drunk by itself or with food. This will please.

Another 91-point performance from this wine. Wonderful nose, great flavors, superb pinot noir. I forgot to re-cork the bottle at the end of night one but was still delicious (if not as fresh) on night two.

It did take some air time for the palate to catch up with the nose but overall this is a very impressive and enjoyable wine.

Very intriguing nose with primary ripe but dusty red fruits and plum. Touch of earth and damp brush in the background. Round, but not flabby mouth feel. Very minimal but fine grained tannins. Initially tasted at ~15degC and couldn't tell it was 14.7%. Wish there was something else in the mouth taste or feel though, to match the bouquet. Definitely drink cool. After it warms up, kind of reminds me of a syrah/grenache blend…

Drank last night with Copper River Salmon. This wine continues to teeter on full blown (14.7%) but just rides a fine enough line to keep it in check. Solid nose, great fruit, mild tannins and a medium finish. I really like the Brooks Pinot's although this is no where near the 04, 05, or the upcoming 2007.

Bigger, like a Cali pinot, which isn't really what I look for. It's good juice though. Most will not be disappointed.

Nice enough Pinot nodding toward full-blown, but not going there. Enjoyed it.

This bottle more immediately appealing and integrated (upon opening) than the last. Excellent.

Garagiste Test Drive; 4/3/2009-4/5/2009 (Minnesota) : I'd rate this somewhere in the 89-91 vicinity, the higher end on potential. While forward on the nose, at present it's quite tight on the palate. All the raw materials (fruit, tangy, medium to med heavy weight), but not integrated. Could use either a decant or a couple years in the bottle. Update: 2nd day, the palate is smooth and balanced, and this goes from speculative to the real deal. I really enjoy the …

More integrated on day two. A bit heavier and CA-like than my ideal (perhaps because of the vintage?), but very nice.

What I love about Oregon Pinot. Medium bodied. Wonderful nose. Slightly tart cherries. A pinot noir not pretending to be anything but.

From a bunch of blind recommendations at Vinopolis, this has become a stand out for the value. Delicious and around $30, it's a Pinot that tastes like the $45-$60 bottles I've been tasting recently. I need more of this, may get a case.
