A tasting of older wines at the Singita Maturation Cellar (Sawmills, Stellenbosch) : (Tasted Blind) Deep ruby to purple in colour with intense aromas of ripe blackberry, blackcurrant, and dark chocolate impregnated with some dried orange peel, complemented by toasty oak and a sprinkle of pepper and cinnamon. A fresh, vibrant entry with sweet bilberry, blackcurrant and wild herbs that weave through fine-grained powdery tannins. Very dark. Spicy syrah

Too young however potential is there

Very dark, dense and closed on the nose. Some peppery dark fruits; dense, lots of matière here. Classic dark Syrah flavours. A little like Cornas. Very youthful. Nice finish.
