A total beauty, with a sappy, diaphanous manner. Light and yet the middle shows concentration. Savory cherries, raspberries, porcini, wet earth, fennel and plums. An episodic finish, with silky tannins and is almost round. Another elegant ‘22. Also quite floral. ‘Nuff said; time to enjoy another sip. Drink 2026 - 2039.

Fresh pour. Rather firm and reductive, still showing rather coarse tannins. Dense, concentrated black cherry fruit. Needs some time.

Tasted at winery. Medium dark ruby red with pink rim. Redcurrant, dark cherry, raspberry, strawberry, floral, violet, Coca-Cola. Medium-full bodied, high acidity, medium-high tannin, medium-high structure, medium alcohol and long finish. Edgy, feminine, and floral. In my opinion, it resembled a Morey St. Denis rouge. Winery said Sojeau is winemaker's wine and most cellar worthy: It would drinking well beyond 15 years. Sojeau Vineyard has an elevation of 500-650 feet. Vineyard is west facing, and thus there is full blown …

Blind Pinot Noir Tasting and Lunch (San Francisco) : Medium ruby. Fragrant and stemmy. Medium body, excellent soil base. Tart, chocolatey dark fruit, very good acidity, citric, earthy, roundly tannic. Already delicious, complex, and long, although another 3 to 5 years will be beneficial. Being honest with myself, I would have called this Burgundy blind.

Good potential, but in a slightly shut down spot at the moment. Wait another year and revisit.

I get a lot of savory/earthy notes here with the fruit playing second fiddle at this site, which I love. Spiced beautifully with good structure for aging. Closely resembles Will Hamilton’s Violin Sojeau SVD, which is a personal favorite of mine, and it makes sense I’d be a fan of this wine too. Feels like a great Morey St. Denis to me. 93pts.

Walter Scott 2022 Vintage Zoom Tasting : Similar perfume-like nose to the Sojeau Chardonnay, with hints of wet leather and red currant. Prominent red cherry and raspberry flavors with an undercurrent of plum and blackberry. Long finish, medium/high acid. Round, enveloping mouthfeel. Truly lovely.

2022 Walter Scott test drive (zoom) : This is wound a bit tight right now on the nose while showing off upfront tones of red cherries, spice box, toasty notes, currants, orange peels, crushed rocks, and some raspberry notes. There is good depth here, but it is being held back by its youth right now. The Medium/full bodied feel shows off good texture and balance with crisp, medium+ acidity and chewy, medium+ tannins. The structure is a bit punishing at …
