2023 vintage

Great wine. Clearly northern Rhône, but distinctive from the usual suspects. A little funk on the nose, with an mix of fruit and mint or eucalyptus. Fabulous texture, with mulberry and a little smoke. Elegant. No tannins, clearly at peak. Could last a few years but ready to go.

In a great place - slight herbal and tea on the nose - some feral notes. Bounces around the palate with nice tannins and great acidity that gives it a mouth watering finish - just lovin’ it

Plums, strawberries and a whack of eucalyptus on the nose, and a blast of pure red fruit and acidity on the palate. This is drinking very well from magnum but can hold in this format for another decade at least. Really good with food.

Served out of magnum and drinking perfectly. Riper fruit for sure but balanced, with a great minerality and wonderful acidity. Very pure and enjoyable, and paired wonderful with our dinner of grilled cumin lamb..tannins resolved

Just lovely, glad I waited for this. I caught the previous bottle too soon, as someone else suggested. Now this is mellow and alluring, with a rusty hue to the color, peppery, bloody, and floral aromas that are soft and gentle. Balanced and lovely on the palate too. Aromatics were beautiful from the get go. We didn't have a decanter, and the palate was a little tight at first. But just sitting in the bottle a while, it opened up. We loved it.

My bottles are in a good spot. This still shows some tannin, but there is no harm in drinking now. It depends what you're looking for. This is open and expansive, with earth, olives, rocks, and, as I say, some tannin left to resolve.

Out of magnum. Medium red with browning at the edge. A Cotes du Rhone with a $100 nose! Full of sexy, smoky Cote Rotie-like tones, some VA, and herbal tones. Somewhat less exciting in the mouth. Good acidity but initially stringy and weedy. Over time, though, the fruit comes forward and speaks more clearly. Not perfect but still pretty eye opening for a wine of this level.

the nose is lovely - black olives, dark fruit, very pretty and lifted. the palate is strange though, somewhat dilute for over an hour before putting on a bit of weight, and even still, the midpalate is a bit thin. something about the palate makes me think of a carbonic wine. not a bad showing, but not lovable either.

I'm told that because of the synthetic cork, this should be opened on the early side, so I opened it. Much too early, at least from the wine's perspective (rather than the cork). The '99 Brezeme still stands out in my memory as a junior Cote Rotie, with amazing, soaring aromatics, textbook Syrah blue/purple fruit and violets. Well, this has settled some in a year, the acidity seems just right, not as angry as a year ago. The fruit is pretty ripe, and for the first hour or so that is pretty much it, ripe blackberry fruit framed by the tangy acids. With air a graphite mineral edge shows up and makes it more interesting. Perfect tannins too, noticeable without being astringent. Enjoyed this a lot.

This is definitely a great delicate and balanced wine. So so balanced. Nice pepper and flowers with a hint of plum and some raspberry on the nose. On the palate it felt silky. Probably the best Syrah based cotes du rhone I have had. I think the nose was more complex than the 2005 Chave Crozes-Hermitage. Jean thought it felt like a sophisticated beaujolais. A great wine. Bought another bottle to drink in the summer.

Very young with intense acidity but balanced by perfectly ripe fruit. Some smoke and meat smells along with blackberry fruit in a fairly classic N Rhone nose. This should age well but needs food for current enjoyment. It has depth and good tannic structure to go with the acidity.

garnet colored and translucent, a lighter color than most other syrah i have seen. Lovely nose of plums, smokey tar, and herbs. juicy black plums on the palate, with herbal and meaty notes. good length, great acidity. yummy stuff.

Very much like a young Cornas. Balanced and complex, although still quite young. Classic Northern Rhone syrah notes of grilled meat, gunpowder, and dark fruit. Quite stony and earthy. Long finish. I really enjoyed this, and it should get even better with a few years of age on it. Not cheap at $25, but well worth it.
