This bottle was past prime. Tasted washed out. Bummer. I love Jaffurs Bien Nacido. Bought on auction so maybe not stored properly.

Decanted off minimal sediment. This is in a great spot now, but I suspect this will be longer lived than most on account of the fabulous acidity of the 2015 vintage in general. So good. Wish I had more!

No detailed notes taken. This strikes me as a worthy successor in the line of wonderful recent vintages for this bottling that I have tasted (2012, 2013 and 2014). There is adequate acid lurking beneath the blanket of rich, exotic fruit. It could definitely use a couple of years to settle in, but the problem is that it is so dangerously easy to drink now. I'll refrain from scoring, but viscerally I put this in the 93-94 range.

Hmm, not the typical Jaffurs’ BN flavor profile with this vintage. Has more tart pomegranate and finishes with a bitter espresso note. Going to let the rest of my bottles sit for a few more years. Just too young yet. Hold.

Classic Bien Nacido. Smoked meats, clove, pepper, a little tapenade, sweet dark fruits. Higher acidity. More pepper notes emerge about two hours in. Just entering the drinking window. Initial hour decant, sings at about two hours in. Drink or hold. Day 2 update. Really settles in black raspberry notes evident. Great wine.

Just coming around now, and improving markedly in the past year. Classic BN flavors of blackberry, Asian spicebox and a touch of bramble. Intense, yet delicate at the same time.

Markedly improved since our last bottle of a year ago, and really drinking well now. Medium-density garnet/purple in color, with pretty plum and berry aromas. Palate is a classic Bien Nacido mélange of red fruit and black fruit flavors, just a touch of black pepper, with earthy notes on the long, lip-smacking finish. Delicious, one of the best of the difficult '11 vintage we've had, and showing a sturdy backbone that should allow further improvement over the next few years.

More of a cool climate Syrah in taste. Deep clove, smoke, bacon and spice with dark fruits. Just a hint of vanilla/oak. Smooth, no signs of heat. Drank cool. Pop n poured. Probably needs another two years to really hit its stride, but great drinking now.
