Creamy but zippy. Strawberries with white balsamic, but yeasty.

Great acidity. Bruised apple and lemon. Nice roundness and a lovely long finish.

Fresh strawberry, cream, brioche, butter. Like drinking a strawberry Danish. Really delicious, but not very complex. Really great freshness, fine mousse. I probably would have been disappointed if I didn't get this on sale ($62 down from $82.) For normal retail price, you can get better in this range. Brief notes from a few days ago.

Serviceable, tasty - a bit too sweet - but nothing special.

Bright and charming, good bead, strawberry on the palate. Nicely balanced finish. Love the red fruited accents of the rosé.

Fine bead. Yeasty nose. Light and smooth on the palette with a crisp and long finish.

Pure clean elegant fruit (cherries and apricots?) on the nose. Palate similar plus some foamy chalk. Brief finish.

This one is a winner. Pale salmon color, light and vivacious. One of my favorite NV Rose and will look to restock! Really food friendly. Yum.

Opened after a celebratory DP 12' which was probably a mistake but wanted a Rosé bubbly. Light mousse, watermelon, touch of grapefruit, light acidity on the finish. Not a very complex wine but tasted better on its own on day 2.

Very delicate body but flavor intensity was not as pronounced as Marc Hebrart’s NV Rose Champagne.

Monthly Tasting Group: Northern Rhone and a Couple CdP's (A - Side Public House, St. Paul, MN) : pale salmon color. Drank a small glass over 20 minutes. Yeast, biscuit, strawberry on the nose. The palate is medium bodied, a nicely finessed style, pretty cherry and red berry, subtle spices. Excellent.

Brought this to a group dinner for the opening course. Nicely structured. Pale coloring, wild strawberry and watermelon rind notes. I liked this. Good verve and acidity for food pairing. This is Rose bubbles for those who like the pucker and minerality of Bandol and Cinsault based still roses. I happen to be one of that crew! One more bottle in the cellar and will look for this bottling again.

Moderate autolysis, sweet and rich and toasty. Ample red fruit, suggests heavy meunier, high dosage. Nothing hugely subtle or complex, but well made. Some seawater. Palate heavy, but supported by adequate acid. Balance pretty good.

One of our favorite rose champagnes. Rarely disappoints. Onion skin. Higher acid. Food friendly. Nose and body improved as it warmed from 45 degrees.

Delightful. Layers of brisk strawberry fruit and biscuit on the tongue. Excellent finish of sweet berry, citrus, and stone. Half bottle. Consumed in Fallon, NV paired with pretty excellent Subway cuisine.

Sabered by none other than Keegan Rawls! Even though Champagne continues to get more and more expensive I still find this wine to be of great value. Even young it shows a lot of complexity and balance. Bright red fruits, light tasty brioche note, and beautiful minerality; including a tough of salinity on the finish.

Stunning Champagne rosé. This wine had everything a Champagne rosé should have. The acidity was mouthwatering and gave way to beautiful expressions of fruits (apple, pear, raspberry, tart cherry), a touch of brooch, and ultimately the unmistakable minerallity of a classic Champagne. Complex, balanced, and complete. This wine works beautifully with food having the slightest touch of tannin and is a really value in Champagne, if there ever was such a thing.

This disappeared quickly... very light, barely even salmon colored rose, but the nose was lovely with strawberry, brioche, peach, floral notes, and mineral hints. The palate was fresh and yet vinous at the same time, really quite lovely.

Excellent Champagne. Fragrant, with red fruit from the Pinot Noir showing up. Very full-bodied and rich, with fine balance. Worth the money. 5-12-17-8: 92/100.

Bottle purchased on 01/12. Medium golden color with a solid bead. Pleasant musty nose with mushy apple, yeast; fuller bodied with flavors of citrus, bruised apple, brioche. Very balanced and delicious. Excellent QPR.

This disappeared quickly as the starter wine for Thanksgiving dinner. So while I didn't take any detailed notes, perhaps that is a good indication that it was very much enjoyed by all. 91-ish

Just a stand out bottle of bubbles. Gentle brioche, soft red berries, able texture. Hard to go wrong here.

HDH Bordeaux Auction; 11/9/2018-11/10/2018 (Chicago, IL) : Touch of reduction on the nose here, with some high-toned almond elements, as well as some juicier stone fruit flavours. The palate is fairly fleshy, with some sweet and rounded fruit. Fairly gentle overall, without too much cut, but quite pleasant all the same.

HDH auction at Spiaggia (ft. Maison Leroy); 9/13/2018-9/15/2018 (Chicago, IL) : Intense nose of almonds and brioche -- slightly high-toned, but extremely biscuity and clearly very autolytic. The palate is sweet, with a surprising amount of bite from the tartness (seems almost a little underripe), but the yeast and bread qualities dominate on the palate, giving the sense of sweetness. Not exactly the most integrated on the palate (perhaps because of the vintage?).

Good stream of bubbles throughout glass. Crisp apple and citrus on the nose. Flavor very fresh, certainly a brut but some sweetness coming from the fruit flavors. Fairly acidic. Good champagne. Enjoy the combination of fruit, minerality, acidity, floral qualities.

The taste of this champagne is the closest to Dom I have so far come across. This may not be a good sign if you are like me and prefer something more complex to make it interesting. But this is definitely a champagne/sparkling that will satisfy almost any guest you might have.

Nose of raspberry, lemon/lime, yeast, slate, and honey, lots of tiny bubbles formed a slender mousse, same on the palate, medium/big body, good acid, lovely richness and sweet honey taste, paired well with the Smoked Sockeye Salmon, and a silky, long finish, a better bottle than the last one noted.

No formal note; quite some flowers in the nose with still acidic and fruity flavors on the palate; overall, 92-93 points.

Brief Takes on a Slew of Grower Champagnes (Arlequin Wine Merchant, San Francisco) : Odd, off nose. Low pitched citrus and not much else. Unimpressive, as I remember this year's Cuvée Angeline also being. Not so speciale.

Yellow, medium sized bead. Apple cider. Sweeter entry, dry, shorter finish marked by wood. I don't like the feel or the balance. Second time tasted this month-unimpressed both times.

Yellow, fine bead. Medium weight, crystallized citrus, noticeably sweet, interesting twist of toffee, spice, and oxidative notes at the back end. Interesting but ultimately, it is just too sugary for my taste.

Light pink. Fairly frothy. Light bodied. Tart strawberry, dry. Less to it than on previous occasions.

Nose of strawberry, watermelon, wet slate, and a touch of yeast, lots of tiny bubbles and wonderful mousse, light/medium body, great tension and taste, for $23 suction price a real value.

As before. Just mouthwatering, dry strawberry and great stoniness. A winner every time.

Last Sunday Tasting of the Year-Champagne!! (SF Wine Trading Company) : Very faint pink atop amber color. Moderately active mousse. Pure strawberry aromas. Light weight, great minerality. Very beautiful and delicate with a sharply etched, very clean, dry finish. Absolutely lovely and probably on balance, my favorite wine of this excellent flight.

Bubble Bash 2014 (Pier A Harbor House) : 50% chardonnay, 50% pinot noir. Very elaborate nose of roses, rum cake, cashews, strawberries and peaches that just sings from the rim of the flute. Mineral-backed structure of toasted brioche, candied roses, pecans and macerated strawberries. Beguiling finish with moderate acidity. Finish is fresh and rather long. This wine is unmistakably feminine in both the nose, structure and taste. Quite eye-opening really. My favorite of the bunch of all 3 J. Lassalle's.
