No formal notes. This is tasty with a bit of structural personality. It has decent weight with a big hot if flint and lemony and orange zesty minerality. The mouse is a bit rough in a way that grips the tongue. Smokey white pepper. Salty finish. Cool profile, modest depth.

Rich and powerful, with limited yeast autolysis character. Good fruit and enough acidity to keep it fresh on the palate.

Lean fresh. Served side by side with the cuvée oubliée and my impression is that was better.

Fresh citrus apricot yeast on the nose, green apple on the palate, creamy texture, good acidity, Lee found it smooth, easy drinking, enjoyable.

Just quick notes. Rich mousse, very classic Champagne with nothing setting this aside as unique but nonetheless it is very well made and enjoyable. Lemon, orchard fruits, brioche, good acidity and mineral driven finish. Worth letting it the more recent release age a bit before opening. Don't think I'd buy again.

L.CBSA02US which indicates that it is based on 2006 vintage, and was disgorged in 2009, probably January or February. This was not just holding up, it was singing, with perlage like prodigious pointillism, and a most engaging juxtaposition of rich pralines and incisive tart fruit. It was pure delight. Next to some Egly and Agrapart, this is the best aged NV Champagne I've tasted. Grand cru indeed!

2023 disgorgement. Rather dull, too many bubbles, rather light. Punches well below its weight and price tag. Dég. 2023. Plutôt quelconque, trop de bulles, très léger. Clairement en dessous de son rang et de son prix.

2022 base… light concentration, not particularly exciting and has a small bitter aftertaste. Bubbles are fine. Needs a slumber to get together i feel.

2020 disgorgement. Notes of green apple on first sips, lots of bright acidity. As it sat a while, started to taste it's age with a beautifl brioche finish.

Very refined in its mousse, its purity snd its delicate acidity/citrus; long and superbly balanced, so blanc de blancs.

Pours a pale white gold color with a finger plus of white fizz that settles out quickly but lots of mustache tickle left dancing in the glass. Nose has a nice doughy yeast presence that accented with undertones of citrus, pear, white chocolate, lavender and wildflower hay. Palate is bright and crisp and not quite as complex and developed as the nose. Crisp acidity and layered fruit evolve into an elegant glass of bubbles that is delicious just not as …

Super champagne, firing on all cylinders right now. Light golden color, really fresh with tons of well-rounded acidity just like you would expect from the king of blanc de Blanc. Perfect stage to drink right now

On opening, complex citrus on nose, chalk; saline and flinty palette, sour milk? very rounded, creamy, lacking acidity; cloudy with thin mousse; Nose thickens though short: bready, minerally, earthy, moss, flowery, oily; graphite on the palette, fruit is marginally extracted but very much on background; acids brighten only towards the end, with wide citric gingery spice leaving a heated, though short smooth finish; Linear style, complex and tertiary but somewhat understated and needs 3hrs to sing; a little too malolactic …

Served in a Zalto white wine glass. Honeyed notes of apple cider, Asian pear, candied ginger, salted butter, and salt bread. Lots of salinity and crushed shells on the palate, but weakens toward the finish. Despite its age and pedigree, it’s a tad linear; I think I was expecting more. But certainly a nice wine from a respectable producer.

I don't usually like blanc de blancs, but this one had such focused minerality, it won me over. A bit like white Burgundy with sparkle.

Christmas Day first champagne. Excellent light (Japanese) peach, apple and a touch of elderflower. Acidity is really delicious here and there is a good amount of body in tension with the mousse. Lovely.

Magnum. According to the QR code on the bottle, 2019 base, disgorged Feb. 19, 2024, 6-7 g/L dosage. I've read that magnums used to be an unlabelled single-vintage wine, don't know if that's still the case. A more lifted and floral version of this cuvee, with some slightly riper aromatic tones moving into the stone fruit register. The palate is drier, showing plenty of chalky grip. Not great intensity but the balance is well-judged and the length is sneaky. I've …

Great balance between brighter citrus and fruit character and some of the heavier lees-age and oxidative notes. Lighter on the tongue than other wines with similar character, goes down a little too easy! Punches well above the price point.

2nd of 3 magnums, this one has put on more depth and richness with a more prominent yeast component, heading into a really great spot if its evolution this had more depth but still taut and so much oyster shell and focus; very good.

While labeled as NV, according to the QR code on the label, this is actually a vintage wine. Bottle No. 257574, all 2012 from four Grand Cru vineyard sites in the Cote de Blancs, disgorged 2016-04-11 with 2 g/L dosage, prepared for BB&R in the UK. Certainly austere, full of lemon and green apple and stone, just a hint of jasmine, not much feeling of density or weight but with good intensity and lots of mineral grip. Opens up nicely …

Highlights of Champagnes with Jean-Christophe (Regional Wines, Wellington) : I couldn't find the disgorgement date on the label but JC said it contained some 2011 and/or 2012 réserve wine. Punching above its weight division. Lighter, watery colour. A classic Pierre Péters steely nose of chalk, spices, fine citrus and gentle spices with brioche oxidative highlights. Focussed, tight and precise on palate. Mineral, showing wet limestone, pear and citrus. Some tasters found it too austere at 6 grams per litre residual …

Grand Cru Selections Tasting (Eventi Hotel - New York NY) : Walkaround tasting with producers. Apple and lemon with floral touches, this seemed like a textural Tasmanian devil demanding complete attention with its energy today. Long finish. Not quite as "yummy" as the 2016 tasted next.

Opened at PP. P&P and enjoyed. Very precise and mineral. As Rodolphe says, when wines are driven by minerality such as the ones from Mesnil, his aim is to preserve the fruit and find a balance - and he does a great job here. This still needs a few more years to flesh out, but is a wonderful wine and will have upside. Better than my previous bottle with him in HK. Would recommend revisiting in 5+ years.

Tasted next to the 2012 Chetillons. Beautiful nose with a bit more integrated notes of apples, minerals, some nuts, almonds, a bit rounder flavors, and citrus. Good acidity and more rounded on the palate, orchard fruit, white flowers, and nice minerality. Long finish. Very complex and interesting wine. Clearly more mature and "ready" but I liked both equally for different reasons...

Pierre Peters Les Chetillons 2002. Enda renere i uttrykket enn 2006.
