So glad I held onto this too long. I took good care of it, and it SHINES after all these years. You could just sit and sniff, but the smooth mouthfeel and finish demand you drink it. Looking for more.

Everything is there for a good run. Surprised it was still a bit tight. Decant improved the flavors of dark cherries, cinnamon, cola, and walnut. Definitely a masculine variety. More time will help it mature and integrate.

Really nice. Even better the second day. Suggests cellaring longer, but pretty good right now. If PNP, pour through a Vinturi. Otherwise, give it 10-15 minutes rolling around in the glass.

Opened and let breathe for over an hour during which I tasted at various intervals. Altogether the wine never seemed to open and express itself. Its nose was stingy to the point of being shut down, and later in the evening the faint hint of fruit earlier gave way to a predominant hint of Bourbon and floral fragrances. There seem to be some really up and down reviews of this wine. So here's mine. I really liked it. I was sort of surprised at how much I liked it. There was a lot of big red fruit like a RRV pinot. And yet there was also some of that classic burgundian "barnyard/forest floor" bouquet. It opened up some over about 2-3 hours of sipping. I feel like this is a really natural pinot. Initial cherry, raspberry and spice aromas. Initial rich fruit flavors with acid and a little bit of tannin. Goes well with stir-fry chicken and vegetables in satay sauce over brown rice. Color goes from fairly deep purple to a light purple. Thankfully, neither jammy nor syrupy, this wine is a bit more fruit-forward and acid than we usually reach for. It drinks easily and well tonight with the food.
