Not sure I could place it as Alsatian, not as complex as I might have thought Updated two days later/ magnificent , apricot liquor, lavender honey, very layered. Really improved with sir.

WOW THIS WAS KILLER // honestly I like it more than the zind-humbrecht sgn pg from rangen // so rich, so pure, so much fruit and honey, apricots, pears, tinned pears, pear drops, really good acidity for a pg, really mineral sour twist fruit-pit twist on the finish drinking great no hurry either and not expensive at all for what it is 74

This is an outstanding wine. Abricot, fig, and spices cream. Bright acidity to accompany the richness of the wine and give some good length. It as still some long life ahead. To buy again if I find it again!

V3. Beautiful wine. See Eric’s notes below, which are spot on. German dessert wines continue to impress. Their ability to rein-in alcohol while still being so big is true art. MPD at Westward.

Paired with the cheese course of the New Year dinner with some friends. Great quality, apricot driven aromas, very sweet. Felt quite unidimensional to be honest and lacked some acidity and depth to score higher. Anyway, still a great match with the cheeses.

AH supplied .375 for dessert at Forgione last nite. Extremely dark color demonstrating the wine's age. Nose of prunes, raisins and hint of apricot. Same on the palate. This wine is liquid raisins and prunes, with a touch of apricot fruit and honey. Not for the feint of heart here, tho I enjoyed this wine. Drink up

A great bottle of wine. Amber color with a mustard yellow rim. Stewed apricot and peach mixed with fresh vanilla and honeycomb. Clove. Bitter orange. Pure. This is thick and viscous. More than oily. Deeply penetrating. Long. Great. On day two, I might have undershot this wine. Even more impressive, together, long and complex. The spicy aromatics are mesmerizing. (96) A week later this is only getting better. Black tea and chamomile emerge on the outrageously complex nose. Bitter orange …

Intense stuff, not for the faint of heart. Penetrating, sweet nose of apricot syrup, Lipton's ice tea, smoke, lemon zest. The attack is quite sweet and a touch thick, but it has tons of citrusy acids and a zesty bitterness to keep the sugar in balance. Long, long finish of honey and burnt orange. Pretty viscous stuff and lacking in nuance, but I love the power and profile here. 93-94 pts.

Deep amber color. Nectar of the gods. The perfect balance of richness, sweetness, intensity and balance. So rich but not heavy. Does the finish end? Incredible. (98)

Really an interesting dessert wine. Insanely sweet, even though there is enough acidity that keeps it from being cloying. Such a deep dark orange/carmel coloring. Still a light clear ring at the edge. The nose wreaks of burnt mandarin orange/ turkish apricots that have become a little on the soft side. Peaches, and so many other fruits depending upon which sip you are on. I do get some Amazon fruit like guarana or even some pomegranate, that has started to …

Dark amber, rich sugarcane, big acidity. Maple, apple, cider and mulling spice. Fair amount of botrytis here. Pretty delicious.

beautiful dark orange colour with aromas peach, damascus, mineral, honey. Very elegant and imponent! On the palate it's very licquorous with touch of guarana and minerals. A long after taste that not even an expresso could take it away

A very generous, interesting and well-made wine. Quite unctuous, fat and sweet. Honey amber colored, yet surprisingly fresh given the deep color. Liittle if any hint of oxidation burn normally associated with this deepening color. If it has a flaw, it is that the finish doesn't quite live up to the promise of the initial lay on the palate, falls down just a bit on the end. Nonetheless, a truly outstanding dessert wine, well worth seeking it out. Be prepared, …

While still drinking as a young wine, this was the finest showing I've had to date for this wine with further glimpses into it's great future evident in this bottle. Light yellow in color, this had a harmonious balance of fruit, luscious sweetness and a lively acidity. Medium to full bodied and concentrated, it showed notes of apricots, honey, orange peel, pineapples as well as Rangen typical notes of peat, minerals and a muskiness. An opulent wine with a long …

Pale amber in colour, this offers lots of honey and raisin aromas, with dried appricots and melon. Full bodied, very sweet and rich. Thick and flavourful, with a creamy, greasy character. Great wine.

Dinner with Brian, Lauren & Bill at Elaine's, Chapel Hill. Light gold in color, this was a very young wine that really needs more time to show it's best. That said it still showed as an outstanding bottle tonight. Terrific acidity and a clear botrytis influence mix with some Rangen-typical peat making for a very pleasant drinking experience. 50+13+12+8.5+8.5 = 92+

In Breckenridge for the Fulcrum quarterly sales meeting. Light gold in the glass, this medium bodied dessert wine combines a nice mix of botrytis influence, burnt sugar and a little of the Rangen terroir, particularly on the nose. Very long finish that effectively lasts until the next sip. A great wine with a great future that currently only shows glimpses of it's true greatness. 50+13+13+8.5+8.5 = 92+

Sushi from Waraji at home with Jay & Megan. Light gold in the glass, and extremely young. Earthy and peaty with a slight, but positive, amount of bitterness. Clearly showing its' Rangen origins even at this young age. Not overtly sweet though clearly a dessert wine. Will show much better in 10+ years. 50+12+8+8 = 89++
